SIL has had yet another one. This must be number 4 or 5 now. The doctor says that there is nothing obviously wrong with either one of them but she can't get past 10 weeks.

What can they try? She is only 28 and this has been going on for about 18 months now.

Has she not asked for any recurring miscarriage tests? Sometimes women have a gene that stops the body from absorbing folic acid, or they have a chromosome disorder effecting the baby. None of these would be 'apparent' when looking at someone.

check out the emmsys onwards and upwards thread - all the women on there have had recurrent miscarrages and we've been discussing what we can do to reduce the chances. Definitely looks like the tests are the way forwards, but let her know that even with 5 MCs under her belt if no cause can be found she still has a 75% chance of her next pg being successful!
