Could I be looking at a bfp? (I have another test but no more pee for a few hours!)

Hi, I haven't been here for a while but last time I was I wasn't long over an ep (Jan) Still not emotionally over it.

Anyway since then we decided not to ttc and just take things as they happen and maybe look into medical help (ttc nearly 2 years) if we felt up to it later this year.

I've been feeling 'different' for the last few days but every month when we were ttc I felt something so I can't really go by that and besides early pg symptoms are so similar to af I could drive myself crazy symptoms checking.

...so I've done a test today (cd 25 in 25-29 day cycle) and I have a VERY faint bfp. Thing is it took longer for the line that shows the test worked to come up than usual and I also splashed a little on the test window (blush). The line is not meeting in the middle either just starts at the top and bottom, very defined and then fades towards the middle to nothing.

My question is...can those lines turn blue, even a little bit blue if there's no hcg and could my splashing have damaged the test and given me a false reading?

As far as I am aware the lines don't turn blue if you are not pregnant. There is some knowledge that after about an hour they are not accurate to read but even then all you will see is a faint outline of the "positive" line and certainly no blue.
If there is any blue there at all then I'd say you are pregnant

Try again when you next wee - or if you can stand it (and I wouldn't have been able to) wait a few days and test again.

It was definately within minutes of testing that the blue came up but it has faded even more now.

I wonder can I use a container next time and hold the test in it for the five seconds.

I would love to have the will to leave it a few days but not me...can't hold me

well good luck but I'm afraid I have to warn you I weed on a stick wrong and could see a line but it wasn't (but mine was paler than dye so I knew it probably wasnt a BFP but didnt stop me getting my hopes up)

But if the dye in the line has come up then maybe. Fingers crossed.

(Weeing in a contained and holding it in for ages is a good tactic!)

I did a second test and not even a hint of a line to be seen. I'm early yet and it wasn't fmu so could still be in with a chance but I'm thinking maybe it was just a faulty test or, like you said Thandeka, I may have done it wrong.

I'll post back in a few days either way.

scardypants the best of luck, I also got what I thought was a bfp on Fri but when I tested again the morning after (when it's supposed to be the best time) I only got a very faint line after about 5 mins. AF has not appeared so might test again in a day or so. Let us know!!
