Am I Pregnant???

I know there are lots of other threads about this but can anyone tell me if I'm pregnant. My period is normally due on a certain date each month as opposed to a number of days cycle. It normally comes on the last day of the month but because Feb was short it came on 28 and then March was a bit wonky and it came on 28 again.

I have therefore been expecting to see some signs that I'm going to have it for days now and have so far done 5 pregnancy tests which all say I am pregnant with absolutely no hint of a maybe in sight.

I still don't have it. I don't want to jinx it as I am desperate to be pregnant again.

Can anyone give me any hope or at least make me be a little realistic and come back to earth.

Did you mean you've had 5 pregnancy tests and they've all been clearly negative??

Meanmum · 30/04/2003 14:34

Yes 5 pregnancy tests and they have all been clearly negative. I've got the typical pains like I'm going to come on but with my ds I had the same thing and expected to see it but instead had a different arrival 9 months later.

However, if 5 tests say you're pregnant, then I guess you're pregnant...

Meanmum · 30/04/2003 14:35

Thanks but my bad typing means they didn't say that actually. Wish they would

Have you tried different tests? There was a thread on this somewhere else recently. I can't remember which were more sensitive than others.

Meanmum · 30/04/2003 14:38

First Response and Clear BLue. I'm off to buy some more today but havne't had time yet.

SoupDragon · 30/04/2003 14:40

I have a feeling Boots' own brand was meant to be quite sensitive. Good luck!

ThomCat · 30/04/2003 14:42

Bless your cotton socks Meanmum. I can't give you any great advice but I am going to will it to happen for you!!!! My fingers are crossed and I just made a wish! God luck and let us know what happens.
Can anyone remeber what the name of the test is that works really soon after a missed period? i'm sure i read about it somewhere on this site but can't remenber where.

mum2toby · 30/04/2003 14:42

OH Meanmum.... >don't get too excited M2T< Try the Boots one pleeeease.!

Hey... won't make it a bit awkward to drink on the 17 May????

Tessie · 30/04/2003 14:43

Have you had a stressful month or been ill? Sometimes that can delay your period...mine still are very irregular - range from 28 to 36 days...
Having said that, do hope its good news for you - get yourself out to Boots!

Meanmum · 30/04/2003 14:47

This month hasn't been any more stressful than any of the others and I am so praying I will be but think I am just building my hopes up.

I'm going to get the boots home brand test now and some more clear blue as they normaly work for me.

OP posts:
Tessie · 30/04/2003 14:48

Go and get them NOW and do let us know!

Tessie · 30/04/2003 16:07

...any news meanmum?

jodee · 30/04/2003 17:41

Meanmum, maybe get the tests but wait a couple more days before trying? Don't want to dash your hopes or anything, I know it's awful playing the waiting game each month (I'm in the same boat) but I find the higher the expectation I have each month, the further I have to fall when my m/c starts. Hoping you get the positive result you want very very soon, though.

MrsS · 30/04/2003 17:51

Hi Meanmum

Good luck - when I was last newly pregnant I did not get a positive test result for a week after my period was late, so don't despair yet. However I also felt very "odd" immediately, a bit sick and dizzy, just not quite right. We were also desperate to be pregnant again as it was our honeymoon. My fingers are crossed for you x

Meanmum · 30/04/2003 21:38

Thanks for your thoughts. Bought more tests today. Couldn't get to Boots in time so got them from local chemist. Got the Clear Blue again as they have been reliable for me in the past.

I wasn't going to do it until Friday which will be a week late or a 36 day cycle but naturally did one as soon as I walked in the door.

Once again conclusively negative so it's just a matter of waitng until I come on. When I was pregnant with ds I didn't initially suffer at all and even felt like I was going to get my period and I am feeling the same way now but that is 6 tests all saying negative so I just can't see how I am.

I'm saving my last test for this Friday which will be the 36th day of my cycle and I figure if I haven't had it by then I just may be.

I don't want to get my hopes up but just can't help it. Mind you I'm really positive about next month and already planning the "sessions" we will be having. I'll keep you all posted and let you know again on Friday.

I have changed my name for this just in case dh has a sneaky peek at mumsnet.I'm in the same situation as you mean mum but couldn't make it to the shops today so will have to wait again.Like you already have the dates planned for next month just in case I'm dissapointed again this month.

Meanmum · 30/04/2003 21:52

Thinking of you justincase and hope your news is good. Keep us posted and good bonking for next month if this month is unsuccessful.

Now been ttc for 6 months and was bd every day from when my period stopped till when it started again. Now beginning to think that maybe we are doing it too much? Or maybe we should just stop thinking about it and be a bit more spontaneous. Am so broody for a second baby that I think I am becoming obsessed by it all and increasingly worried that something isn't quite right. Fell pg with ds by accident so this is all new territory for me. Every month I just expect it to be bad news now. Not much CM around when I was supposed to ovulate this month which is wierd....
Hope that one of us has some good news to post soon.

Meanmum · 01/05/2003 20:10

No luck this month but then what did I expect having done six tests (yes did another last night) which all said conclusively that I was not pregnant.

Got my period today. As silly as this sounds I'm sure we'll be pregnant next month as for some reason I'm less concerned about being pregnant.

Good luck Tessie. There are a few of us trying all in the same position of having fallen pregnant the first time by accident and not finding it as easy the second time. We have to think ourselves lucky as there are women out there trying to fall pregnant who aren't as lucky as us.

I wish everyone the best of luck for next month and hope to hear good news all round.

OP posts:
jodee · 02/05/2003 08:23

Sorry to hear that, Meanmum. Fingers crossed for you (and Tessie) (and justincase, whoever you are!) for next month. That sounds like the right train of thought - not to get too concerned about it and then hopefully, bingo! We've just started going down the investigative route now for no.2, so hope one of us has some really good news soon.

GillW · 02/05/2003 08:26

Meanmum - if you're going to buy that many tests, try here and save yourself some money!

mum2toby · 02/05/2003 08:31

Meanmum .....

I'm still waiting to find out... double

Just need to get down to it again BIG TIME!

bunny2 · 03/05/2003 00:48

Consolations Meanmum . did a second test today (negative) but havent had a period since MArch 16 so if Im not pregnant something is wrong with me. What really pisses me off is dh's lack of empathy/sympathy. He just shrugs it off. Anyone elses partner the same?

Toblerone · 03/05/2003 13:45

Bunny2 - My friends period stopped for 2 months BEFORE she conceived!!! Her GP was going to send her for fertility tests when she discoverd she was pregnant. She hadn't had a period for 4 months but was only 7 weeks!!

So don't lose hope.... it is possible.
