Anyone had consecutive chemical pregnancies after previous successful pregnancy?

Hi there

We have a 3.5 year old DD and decided to start ttc no.2 about a year ago. I then had my first chemical pregnancy at around 5 weeks. We then waited a few months (for various reasons), and started trying again early Jan this year. On this occasion I had another chemical pregnancy at less than 4 weeks.

We haven't ttc since then but would like to.

I just wondered if anyone else has had this experience of chemical pregnancies after having previously had a successful pregnancy. If so, did you find out what caused them and did you go on to conceive successfully again?

Thanks!

Hi there MLM. I'm really sorry this is happening to you.

We have been trying to conceive #2 since October. I had no problems with my first pregnancy. DD is almost 3. This time around, we conceived straight away, but lost that one at 5 weeks. Conceived again in January, but lost that one at 7 weeks, conceived again, and lost that one at 5 weeks too... am 5 weeks today with our 4th bean in 8 months.

So obviously I can't let you know whether this one will be successful, but I have heard plenty of similar stories where people have gone on to have successful pregnancies. Personally I have decided against trying to get any tests or anything, as all the losses have been so early. I am putting it down to bad luck - I have a feeling there's a 40% chance of loss before you reach 6 weeks, which is actually a big chance you'll miscarry, but doesn't mean there's anything 'wrong' with you.

Sorry I'm not (yet) one of those who can say 'yes, that happened to me, then it all went ok', but hope it helps to hear other people having a similar experience after apparently no trouble the first time.

Good luck with it all.

Hi MLM. Sorry to hear your bad news. I had 2 mc, both at 7 weeks,in between my 2 children. I had 1 cycle in between each and then conceived again. Third time I got lucky and DS is now 2.5. I agree with Biccy and decided that those early mc are weeding out the duff eggs. It made me think of the times in my past when I thought I had 'skipped' a period. I have had 1 chemical pregnancy since and am now 5wks with fingers tightly crossed. Good luck
