Well no luck so far and so have decided to make bit more effort trying to get right time to conceive.

Have looked on fertility friend and they say with my cycle

LMP 23rd May, (yes Beverley your theory works for me, every birth if period is anywhere near due)

usual cycle length 26 days

ov signs, (ie ov pains) about day 10-12 ish

So this would make my fertile period this cycle between 31st May and 4th June, do you think the fertile period continues after ov or is the chance of getting preg seriously reduced straight after ov has occured, (does that make sense?)

My dilema is am due to go on a weekend course in Wales leaving on the 5th, the Friday till sunday.

Am seriously considering not going because of this. I know I might not even get pregnant this cycle but I can't throw away an oppurtunity if this is a fertile time.

I know Ishouldn't be obsessing but I am 42 now and since fertility probs were solved have always found it easy to get pregnant. Am very aware of time ticking by and already we are getting into almost March next year which is taking me closer to 44, ( I am 43 this september).

tips gratefully received and what would you do to the weekend dilema?

I don't think that the weekend course would actually make much difference to your chances at all but if you don't want to go and will be stressing all the time you are away why bother? How much would you take in on the course if you would be worrying throughout? At 42 I am guessing you have been working for 20 years or so, you have earned the right to miss a course surely? Also when you do have children, assuming you go back to work, you will get more hard-core about whether you are willing to work at inconvenient times or not and will look back and be surprised what you put up with!

From what I have read there is a slight chance of falling pg the day after ovulation but a much greater chance if you have sex the few days before and the day of ovulation. Seems to me you should have sex like mad in days leading up to course and then go to course for a rest! Good luck.

sorry misread post and checked your profile, can see you already have a large family - in which case, kudos to you for even considering this course at all! I have one small DS and am turning down work conference in Madrid next month on basis it is short notice and jolly inconvenient as already have had to rearrange childcare that week due to other work commitments.

If you have 5 kids already I think you might be fine to keep going for a few more years than you think, my gran was still having children well into her 40s - final tally of 11 lovely aunts and uncles (and my dad) for me :-)

thanks for your suggestions ladies. Might see how I go.

The course is voluntary and so I can pull out at last minute without inconveniencing anyone else, only lose money, so might see where I am with regard to ov this cycle.

Yeah that's what Ithought neeko so if we get down to it like bunnies the week before, then hopefully will hit jackpot .

It's only month 4 of current ttc but can hear the clock ticking and am genuinely worried about being able to even get preggers now.
