What's better than clomid?

Hey all - I was just wondering what medicines you have taken other than clomid and what your success was? I'd like to ask my doc for something stronger/better than clomid. I've heard of injectables?

What a person needs first and foremost is a diagnosis of the underlying problem. I take it you do not as yet have any diagnosis.

Injectible drugs are usually prescribed only by a consultant gynae at a subfertility unit(certainly not the GP) and used under their supervision.

I guess I should have provided some background info -- my diagnosis is recurrent pregnancy loss - I've had 3 mc's and have been trying to conceive (and hold onto) for almost 2 years. I've just been through 2 cycles of clomid and IUI with no luck. Obviously, I have conceived before on my own so don't know why it's taking so long for me now...At any rate, I wanted to talk to my doctor about other meds but would like some info first!

(((((hugs)))))

Am very sorry to read of your miscarriages.
I hope you received and continue to receive support, you may want to also contact the Miscarriage Association if you have not already done so.

Have you now been referred to a recurrent miscarriage unit for further tests?. This should now happen as a matter of course.

Don't worry - I'm sort of an old pro at this point. I've been receiving treatment. I live here in the U.S. and am seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. I've had all the tests - pretty much everything and more than I think they do in the U.K.! So, yeah, basically nothing is wrong with me except for hypothyroid which I'm on meds for! What a never-ending battle! Anyway, from the lack of responses, I think I'll just ask the doc what he thinks!

Ah, you did not say that you live in the US - the system there is far different.

Good luck with the doc. Regardless of where you reside you should be checked further though to see if there is a definitive cause behind the miscarriages. Here in the UK you would now be referred to a recurrent miscarriage unit.

We don't do recurrent mc clinics here. We go see fertility specialists, like reproductive endocrinologists. As far as getting checked further - I've had it all done - there's nothing left to do! I wish there was...perhaps one day soon, they will find something new and be able to help more women, rather than just saying "in half of women, we never find a cause!" OH well.
