Thank you for thinking of me ladies, and as Sparkly said all went well, baby was jumping around like a mad thing, which was really reassuring after the bleeds the week before.

Beanie How are you holding up my lovely? I agree with Sparkly It took us 2 years to get pg for the first time, after the 1st m/c we got pg 3 times in 10 months! It's almost like it kickstarted everything.
PL Sorry to see you back on the top Let's hope your right and 8 is your lucky number
Jaamy Very of your laptop in the garden!
Zen So glad your scan went well too

Well I hope everyone else is enjoying the weather

ShayeraHol · 05/07/2009 18:10

Am once again internetless - this is the first chance I've had to get on for a while! Not sure when we're going to have internet in the new house so might not be around for a bit, although I can read comments on the phone (v hard to write back!).

Anyway - today is CD1 so can someone update me next time the list's done? Consultant D-Day is this Tuesday, have had 2 cycles since the last time we saw them as I seem to have gone down to crazy short length. Implication was that we'll know if first test was an anomoly, if DH is fixable or if we have to do IVF, so I'm a bit apprehensive.

In the meantime, we're considering getting another cat - we met a lovely one today when picking our two up from the cattery, he'd been thrown out of home and dumped at the vet who didn't want him so cattery lady's daughter rescued him. Not sure it's wise - we're in danger of turning into Crazy Cat Family!

Hope all are well and enjoying the sun!

PistachioLemon · 06/07/2009 00:43

Sorry to see you back at the top Shay. I'm with you on the crazy short cycles. What's going on? Good luck with the consultant test on Tuesday. My DH is doing his sperm test this week too so I'm hoping for the best for both of us.

ICSI is currently our best bet - no chance of natural conception, no chance of "normal" IVF, got to be the proper hardcore stuff. However hubby also has a chromosomal abnormality, so he has to go for genetic counseling to find out if it's appropriate for him to reproduce. If not, then we have three options: donor sperm, adoption, or no kids.

Also, no funding for donor sperm on NHS and I'm 4 years too young for free IVF.

I say again:

Molliemooma · 07/07/2009 18:58

Shayer I am so so sorry to hear your news How mad is it that you are "too young" for free IVF?? And no funding for sperm donors - WTF I am so gutted for you, I can't start imagine how you and DH are feeling, I really hope that the genetic counselling doesn't turn out as bad as expected, and that there is some light at the end of the tunnel for you
Sending you a huge non-MN hug for you and DH x

PistachioLemon · 07/07/2009 20:08

Shayer, I second everything Mollie has said. I'm so sorry to hear your news. Huge hugs from me. xxx

OP posts:
ShayeraHol · 07/07/2009 23:19

Thanks both. We're dealing ok - having a potential plan is helping, got to say the consultant was great with that. Next couple of months are a whole lot of nothing - I've got to have my cyst removed, likely hubby's genetic thingy will be same timescales, so we find out more around September at a guess. Apparently IVF age might be coming down - but not necessarily to anything hopeful. Steeling ourselves for spending all my relocation money on IVF, which is possibly not what the company intended

beanieb · 10/07/2009 00:02

Oh Shayera, sorry to hear you news
I really hope there is a way through this for you x

jaamy · 12/07/2009 00:12

Shayera - am shaking head at your post. Too young for IVF but you are my side of 30 (had peek at your profile). How can this be? Sounds mad to me. At least it looks like you and DH have a decent consultant, though. Great big hugs to you both - you deserve to get that bundle no matter how it happens. ANd if not, if you can get through this, you can get through anything. You have my permission to spoil each other for the next couple of months. x

ShayeraHol · 12/07/2009 14:07

35 is the current age in Berkshire - apparently they're bringing it down, but it comes down by a year every year so guess I'll meet it at 33. Because we've got to go ICSI rather than normal IVF it's a higher cost to go private as well. We'll need to consider whether to wait or not I guess... but we have a couple of months off from difficult decisions which is a relief.

beanieb · 13/07/2009 10:21

Hmmmm... hi all. I started bleeding this morning. This is a pain because I have been told I should have at least 20 days without bleeding after a miscarriage to count it as a period. I miscarried on June 14th, so almost a month ago, but the bleeding didn't stop fully until around the 26th June so that's only 16 days ago. Having said that, the bleeding around the 20th - 26th was very light and brown (TMI) so I would say old blood. Hmmmmm, not sure what to think or if I can add myself back onto the list or not?

One good thing, if this is my period then I won't have it on my wedding day.

PistachioLemon · 13/07/2009 13:17

Hey Beanie. I'd count it as a period if it lasts normal period length. Not long til the wedding now - all organised?

Big waves to everyone else. How are you all?

OP posts:
beanieb · 13/07/2009 13:25

Right - in that case I am going to tempt fate and put myself back on the list. Wedding is just under 2 weeks. Am kind of sorted but still wondering if I should wear my leopard-print shoes or not

MIL is coming to stay and will be with us for 3 nights before going on to her other son. I banned her frm staying the night before the wedding. Lovely woman but that would be too much.

Hope I get this right am adding 7 days.

May I join you please, am to scare to jump on the usual buses. I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in June and having decided to wait a full cycle before trying again I'm now on CD11 and have started jumping DH in a hardcore way.

I'm likely to be a little hit and miss in posting as I'm sh*t terrified about trying again and know I've had it easy compared to some people so try and keep my wallowing to myself.

ShayeraHol sorry to hear that they class you as to young, totally stupid approach in my mind. Hope you find a way through it all.

ShayeraHol my heart goes out to you. We thought ICSI was going to be the route we took, and were heartbroken at the prospect because of how full on it is, and terrified of how we'd manage the cost.

Could you appeal? It should not be based on your age when there is a medical condition (DH's medical condition). Alternatively, you could look into going abroad I guess? Give IVF Support Services a look. Everything is co-ordinated in this country but the actual process takes place abroad. One advantage we thought when looking at them was that everything is a fixed cost, so you know upfront what you're paying, and everything is cheaper than it is in this country.

I can't speak from personal experience, and we're lucky enough to be eligible for 3 NHS cycles (although we've decided to pay for donor sperm so we got a choice of donor and got around the ridiculous waiting list in this country), but if these are unsuccessful we will be contacting them for treatment in Sweden.

Beanie, Jamie, my heart goes out to you both.

Right, off to catch up....

PistachioLemon · 16/07/2009 10:10

Hey Glasto, how are you doing these days? When do you start your NHS cycles?

OP posts:
glastochick · 16/07/2009 15:49

Hi Pistachio

I feel much better about things now we know we can at least try for a baby and we're getting closer to the process starting. Have also been distracting myself with planning our house move in a months' time too. Probably not the best thing to do while starting our first course of IVF but if it works at least we've taken advantage of the housing market and found a place big enough for us and a baby, and if not we've got somewhere nice that isn't next door to a ranting, raving, lunatic

We should start downregging on the 29th. Got a nurse appt on the 23rd so should confirm dates and everything then.

How are things with you?

PistachioLemon · 17/07/2009 08:30

Sounds like you've got everything under control. I shall be crossing fingers for you that you're so busy with moving house etc that the 2WW flies by and that you get a BFP straight away.

I'm doing well actually. I got out of the habit of temping while I was away so I've no idea really whether I've ovulated or not and in a way that's really nice. We've not been having a bonkfest either just sex now and then when we fancy it, which is even better, so I think this may be my approach from now on (if my control freakery doesn't rear it's ugly head that is!). DH hasn't gone for his sperm tests yet either - I think he's a bit afraid of what the results may bring - and in a funny way I don't really mind either.

Going to a wedding this weekend so more dodging of the baby question again. MIL's party the other weekend was quite bad for that but I just did a nervous laugh and ran away whenever it was brought up! I think I'm going to be naughty and drink this weekend though so hopefully there will be fewer suspicious looks. Fingers crossed anyway.

So how's everyone else?

OP posts:
glastochick · 17/07/2009 17:32

Thanks Pistachio

Glad you've managed to move on to the sex when you fancy it bit. This is something we're still struggling with. We got to the stage of performing to demand, as it were, and for both of us it became a chore and we wanted to get it over and done with as quickly as possible. This has now left DH in a situation where he can't help getting it over and done with as quickly as possible, and me wanting to speed things along and not spend too long on foreplay because it gets him overexcited and then it's all over as soon as he starts. Sorry, TMI . I've also got to stop myself from not wanting sex because, to be honest, there doesn't seem as much point in it if we can't make a baby .

My BF in RL took nearly a year to get her DH to go for a sperm test because he was so afraid of the result. He really was scared she would leave him . It hasn't helped him that she's got a DS from a previous relationship but she had him when she was 19 and he's grown up now, so there's nothing to say the problem lies with her DH.

It's a huge dent to their ego's though and my DH has been absolutely amazing in the way he's dealt with it.

Have a great time at the wedding and have a glass of wine with you so even if you don't drink people will think you're drinking. Luckily my ILs are ok and think our delay in providing grandchildren is because my DH isn't ready. My mum would love another GC too, but she has been told in no uncertain terms that I don't want to talk about it and has, thankfully, finally stopped mentioning it. I think she might start up again once she sees we've got room to grow in our new house!

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone, have been jumping DH all week but am fighting a part of me that doesn't want to get a BFP because it will mean I have to face up to the possibility of another miscarrage

PistachioLemon I hope the wedding wasn't too traumatic. It's understandable that your DH is reluctant to take the test, so much of a man's ego is caught up it his virility it must be hard - good news on the sex front though.

Glastochick I think the excitement of a house move will be a good distraction. The sex situation will improve, need to focus on the pleasure side rather than the biological - easy said than done I know!
