Do progesterone levels drop in luteal phase even if pregnant?

I have had progesterone tests done the last 2 months due to repeated miscarriages and short luteal phase. Last month 7 day luteal phase and mc 5 days after af due (same pattern as first 2)

This month progesterone tests (taken CD 26 and 29 of 34 day cycle) I think I ov (from BBT/CM on CD21)

The first test was level of 70.8 which I think is good (?) but the second is 31.1. So does the fact that is has dropped mean that I cannot be pregnant?

Just preparing myself for another disappointment....

By the way my BBT chart (first month of temping) looks totally 'ideal' - ov mid cycle and temp is now a degree higher consistently since ov that in first half of cycle.

I am still hoping....

Sorry can't help you but bumping for you and interested to know the answer. Have you tried fertility friend for info on this?

tried everywhere! Everything just refers to peak then drop in luteal phase but doesn't clarify if this still happens in a cycle where conception occurs...

Hi ILBAM. I had my progesterone level tested for the 1st time on cd21 in Feb and it was 30.1. GP told me that it's not very high but it did indicate that I had ovulated that cycle. I thought no more of it until AF was late and decided to test and got BFP! So clearly level of 30.1 in my case meant pregnancy. Not sure if this answers you question but HTH. Maybe someone with more experience/knowledgeable will come along. Good luck WW x

Thanks for that - I didn't think of Wiki. Its so difficult with US measurements being different.

I am feeling slightly more positive - will answer my own question when I have done my HPT next week....

Let us know how you get on. I'm also waiting to test next week. Hope we're both lucky.
