My FSH levels are high, is it really POF

Hello, I need some advice, help, anything.
Im 36 my fsh levels are 27 and my lh is 15. Doctors are saying its POF but ive had no symptons, apart from not bleeding but i was on the mini pill and depo for 10 years so couldn't tell. Desperatly want a child. Any advice from anyone as im going out my mind. Thanks

I would have said that was most probably normal, but what day in your cycle did you have your bloods taken?

Get a repeat sample as well, I wouldn't diagnose POF on one sample

How long have you been off any form of contraception? Depo would have masked any underlying problems.

Your FSH is very high I'm afraid, ideally it needs to be 8 or less.

I think you need to ask for a referral to a fertility expert so you can consider your options.

FSH levels can and do come down - but if you don't any periods then i am not sure what to suggest.

Hello, I have been off depo for 9 months now. Yes am waiting to see fertility doc but am convinced i have POF due to the FSH levels. I just hope that donor eggs will be an option for me.

As i have not had a proper period for a couple of years now due to contraception and the like i have no idea when my cycle should be. I'm not 100% sure about this prem menopause stuff as i have had absolutely no symptons. I just hope that i can achieve pregnancy in other ways, but am unsure of otions etc?

Donor eggs would definitely be an option if your own are not viable. Premature menopause doesn't affect conception with donor eggs - as they have come from another woman .

Your FSH levels would indicate something called pere menopause - that's the stage before full blown menopause so you might not experience the usual hot flush type symptoms.

Did your mum have an early menopause? these things often run in families.

It could be that you just need to get Depo out of your system, i know some women take a good 12 months for their fertility to return.
