Hi, Im new to this and cud really do with some advice!!!

18 months ago, I found out that both my tubes are blocked, and my only option of haveing a baby is IVF.(IM 31). I feel that ive really got to get a move on with things as my partner is younger and hes desperate for a family. We had been trying for 3/4 years. I also have a son of 11 from my previous relationship.

We have have seriously been considering egg sharing to help another couple and cut down our own cost of fertility treatment.

Has any one done this? I could really do with outside oppinions as I have not told anyone what we are considering.

Thanks

I haven't done this but didn't want your post to go unanswered.

While on the one hand this is something potentially wonderful, on the other hand you do need to consider the implications.

Firstly, if you donate your eggs this can no longer be done anonomously, so there's a chance that a child conceived from your donation could look you up in eiighteen years time. How would you feel about that? Moreover, how you need to consider how you will feel if your own cycle is unsuccessful but your donation leads to someone else conceiving a child.

While egg sharing is a great way to cut down the costs of IVF, for me, the downsides (eg someone else getting pregnant with my biological child and me not being able to get pg) would outweigh the financial benefits.

Thanks for your reply.

Ive been giveing it a lot of thought, and have even been for a counselling session.

But I think it would be to much to cope with if we werent succesful. And also knowing that i could have a biological child id never meet.

Thankyou!
