I can't have any more Clomid, does this mean I'll never have another baby ???

Hi, I have a 4 year old daughter who was concieved after 6 rounds of Clomid, 1 tablet.
I've been taking Clomid again and have had to go up to 3 tablets (the maximum dose) it did make me ovulate but I didn't get pregnant. I've now had my maximum amount of Clomid that you can have in a lifetime.
We have an appointment to see the consultant, but what can be done now?
If I can't ovulate without Clomid and I can't have any more, I don't see how any other treatment could work. Even IVF, you'll need an egg.
If anyone knows of anything that can be done, please let me know.

Hi -

With IVF you inject hormones to create eggs without ovulating and then they are harvested.

If you did ovulate on Clomid, you might be able to try one round of IUI + Clomid (husband's sperm placed right near the opening to the fallopian tubes).

Did your consultant not already tell you what the next steps would be?

Hi, no she didn't. Just that I couldn't have any more Clomid.

Don't loose hope, my consultant said the same and I fell pregnant the next month.

Do you have a diangosis of the underlying problem?. Presumably you have ovulation issues if you were given clomid. A common cause of ovulation problems is polycystic ovaries/PCOS.

Usual follow on types of treatment from clomid include injectible drugs, ovarian surgery or IUI to name but three (possible but would not address actual problem if PCOS was an issue). It may be that you will not need IVF at all.

Your cons should have given an outline of further treatment options before you actually came to the end of the clomid cycles!. There should be a plan b in place by now and it is poor on their part that no further options were discussed.

Another possible way forward is to seek a second opinion.
