AMH Results

I've had an AMH test done which has come back with a reading of 7.1. The nurse at the clinic said this is fine but some Google searches seem to say this isn't that great a result. The range is Taieb J et al, Poster CORATA, France 2005 if that means anything to anyone. TIA

Hi extremelychocolateymilkroll

I dont have answer but am interested myself as I am waiting back on my results.

Hope someone comes along with some answers/advice.

Last October my consultant at CARE referred to the following table (scroll down the page) to interpret the results:

www.tdlpathology.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=201&Itemid=73

U nfortunately my reading was 1.9!

Thanks very much eleveld. According to this table I've got low fertility - which doesn't sound fine at all but maybe is fine for my elevated age - will be 42 in July and had a good response to the drugs in my last ivf cycle in sept.

Hi there
I will just let you know my experience

I had an AMH test done in Feb 07 - so a little while ago now and things may have changed, but my AMH result was 10.8. I do not know the text you mentioned (Taieb J et al, Poster CORATA, France 2005) but the stats on my print-out said:
0-2.2 - very low
2.2-15.7 - low
15.7-28.6 - satisfactory
28.6 - 48.5 - optimal
48.5 > - suggestive of PCOS
So exactely the same as amelied mentioned.
I was devastated at my result as I was 34 at the time and although TTC for over 12 months I did not expect it.
I had so many questions like can the result change month to month (like FSH) is it definitive, what does it really mean, is it the quality or quantity of eggs that matters etc. and did not get many answers except to find out that the test was still experimental and was only thought to be 70% accurate.

I then went on a bit of a mission (some could have called it obsessive ) and began taking Chinese medicines, having acupuncture and craniosacral therapy, taking flower essences - and so on! I also had a lovely GP who did a few Day 21 tests, sperm tests and so on (all came back OK to show I was ov'ing/DH's sperm was fine) and referred us to a specialist. We then made a plan to have an HSG and I was pushing for a scan to show my Antral Follicle Count (this is, I believe a more reliable indicator of your fertility than the AMH test)

By this point it was May 2007 (3 months after my AMH test) and much to my shock and surprise I got a BFP - so I guess my story just shows it can all seem crap/hopeless but your body is amazing and also a complete mystery. Now who knows what will happen now for me as we are just starting to TTC #2 [gulp]

I really would not put too much store by it, and I am sure you can affect these levels to some extent to maximise your chances. I am sure my result could be due the fact that all the women in my family historically have early menopause so I guess my result could be indicative that I am following suit. But from the research I did it seemed to show that the AMH levels, while they are not supposed to go up, can stay static for many years.

Anyway - I am rambling - sorry I really wish you the best and please do not focus on the results, push for an ultra sound to show your Antral Follicle count and my biggest advice is go alternative!

Good luck

Hi extremelychocolateymilkroll

Have my assessment at the fertility clinic tomorrow and was just re-reading the result figures for my conversation with Consultant.

How are you getting on - did you follow any of Seaside72 advice on alternatives?

I am 40, no children and have had 3 miscarriages so feel the results wont be promising.

amelied · 20/07/2009 20:48

Hi

Got my AMH results today - 22.

My consultant is delighted and said it is excellent for my age.

Best wishes to all x

Caitni · 20/07/2009 21:07

Amelied just wanted to say excellent result - I'm 31 and mine was about 20 and my consultant said that was great (and I'm now pregnant after my first IVF). Well done you and your youthful ovaries

amelied · 21/07/2009 19:35

Thanks Caitni and huge Congratulations to you!

I maybe going down that road myself before Christmas.

I was chuffed to bits yesterday - told my DH that this was the female equivilant of having a fantastic sperm count

best wishes to you and your little one.
