Did anyone here take over a year to get pregnant first time?

I thought it might make me feel better if anyone who took longer than a year could share their success stories and if they did anything different the month they conceived?

Took 5 years.
By the time we conceived we had tried everything, including Clomid. So we stopped trying, didn't count days, drank lots, went on holidays, bd whenever (but not on 'good days' only), didn't even think about 2ww. Just completely and totally gave up.
(I think your body knows when you try to fool it into thinking you're not trying).

yes that is exactly what I am doing - trying to convince my body I am not trying!

Took us a year. We decided to go for some tests to check all was ok and before we had any of the results back, I was pregnant...we had just stopped worrying cos we felt we were doing something proactive by getting the tests done and...success.

Tried for two years.
Went to the Cerne Abbas giant and sat on his willy.
Got pregnant the next month!
True.

Took 18 months with DS1. He was a holiday baby (lots of relaxed shagging unlike at home where it was not so relaxed!).

When we decided to TTC DC2 I got pregnant first time with twins...

Alibobster · 08/05/2009 11:05

Took me 2 years and ds was a holiday baby too. Lots of bd and very strong cocktails!

It took me 18 months. What got it for me I think was really getting to know my cycle. I also worked out the best days to bd. I now know I have to bd on cd13, 14, 15 and 16 to get pg. I've done it four times now. When we decided to go for #2 I got pg first month of trying using that method. Sadly lost that one, but got pg two cycles later. Unfortunately lost that one too, but I'm now pg again after trying for two cycles using the above method. Of course if you're a fan of the Shettles method that method will result in boys... and I do have a ds, but hey I don't care, any flavour baby will do

It took us 17 months to conceive DD. We didn't do anything different the month it happened, but it was the 1st month where I wasn't symptom-spotting and convinced I was pregnant - I didn't realise my period was late, and was absolutely floored when the test was +ve.
This time round we've been ttc for almost 11 months...sigh.

Yes well over a year, and a miscarriage.

It's normal for it to take this long, keep telling yourself that.

The month we conceived I thought I was having an anovulatory cycle, no ewcm, no ov pains so decided to write the month off. Lots of stress free time, sex for the hell of it and yup, got pg.

hester · 08/05/2009 11:34

Took 14 months. Not even sure if that counts as a long time as I was 40 at the time. A couple of months before I conceived I went on a health kick - was eating really well, going to the gym, reduced by BMI from 25 to 23. I don't know that that made a difference, though.

Anyway, I miscarried and then conceived again three months later. That pregnancy was successful.

About 7 years, (2 mc in that time though)

The one thing I'll say is that I wasn't relaxed! I know that everyone says if you relax it will happen, but I had just had a year of chemotherapy (due to a molar pregnancy)and a year of not being able to ttc (because of chemo). Previous to that I had had clomid and a laparopscopy. I was sick of treatment, and thinking about trying to get pregnant, and scared of getting pregnant (in case molar pregnancy recurred), so was amazed when I did get pregnant and dd1 arrived.

I just wanted you to know that if aren't relaxed, it can still happen!

Oh, also I found the best way of knowing when the time was right was cervical mucus has to be right consistency (like egg white) - sorry if TMI!

Good luck
