How can I make my lining thicker?

Just had sixth failed IVF attempt and it seems that my lining is not very thick, I always produce really good embryos and quite a lot of them, but today the issue of my lining came up and it was mentioned that it wasn't very thick. Are there any tips for increasing the thickness and what drugs do they use to help. I just want to be prepared before I see my consultant again and to maybe get things a little better before I have an FET.

Old wives tale is that the eggs love a thick lining caused by the consumption of milk...

Have you tried acupuncture? I did that on my IVF cycle and it really helped my lining I think.

Hi Soosy. So sorry you had another failed attempt. I'm having blastocyst transfer tomorrow - hopefully - as long as one has survived (scary times) and am also worried about lining thickness as mine was lowest thickness they look for. Will ask tomorrow if they have any recommendations.

Hi Sleeves - haven't heard from you in ages. How're you doing?

First of all, I have to say that my heart goes out to you with all of your attempts at IVF. ((hugs))

You may be well beyond my simple answers, so please excuse me if you know this already. Clomid reduces the lining as a side effect, but there are some other meds that don't have this side effect. After ov (and hopefully fertilization) then progesterone is usually prescribed to assist in lining thickening, sometimes in gel form, pessiary, or even pill form. I've also been given estrogen patches to help with lining support.

Best of luck at your next consultant visit, I hope you get a good plan for your next cycle.

Really sorry Soosy forgot to ask about the lining thickness today. Was thrown as my consultant told me at first appointment that they only do single blast transfer and today they were all set to do double so had that debate going on. I did google though and there was an article about a couple who were given Viagra to thicken the lining at Midland Fertility Services. Good luck with the consultant.

Thanks I will ask about Viagra, have heard before, I am always given progesterone pessaries after IVF. I have been told I can have oestrogen patches will me next cycle - which will be an FET. I also had a spookily short Luteal Phase this time, which seems to occur quite often with my IVF cycles but not in my natural cycles (naturally I have 14 day Luteal phase. I was just wondering if there was something else I could do as well, you know take the belt and braces approach! issy42 I hope all goes much much better with your transfer and I wish you luck, did you go for one or two? with blastocysts they say there is a much higher rate of identical twins!

Hi soosy - Lottie insisted on having her progesterone upped to 3 pessaries per day (not sure what strength) and it worked for her, so maybe a combination of progesterone and viagra will do the trick.

I did go for two in the end - the clinic gave me a picture of them which is in my gallery - because despite being told chance of success with single blast was 70% at my initial consultation, on day of transfer they told me that wasn't true and was actually 45% compared with 60% for double. Does mean chance of twins is 40%, but triplets only 1%, so decided I could live with that. To be honest though, I'm really not feeling that confident. I've been feeling quite pmt-ish since yesterday and (sorry if tmi) my CM is not right for pg. I distinctly remember noticing it was really thick when I was pg about 4/5 days before AF was due until I mc'd at 4w6d. Whereas normally it gets thicker until about 7dpo then tails back off to being watery a day or two before AF arrives. I have a scan on Saturday as part of a research study at my clinic and I know previously people have been given an indication if things were looking good, so I'm going to try and get the sonographer to tell me either way.

Good luck with your appointment. Do you have a date yet?
