Is it true that conception is really just a matter of luck? If you BD at the right time each month its still down to chance as to whether the sperm reach their goal, there is a good egg to fertilise etc etc. Is there anything else I can do to up my chances I am already taking folic acid and have a good diet and excercise regularly.

you will get pregnant when your body is good and ready - in the mean time have fun enjoy the sex and relax

don't have sex to create a baby have it for fun for love and for comfort

There's some evidence that various lifestyle things can help you conceive - like making sure that you and your partner have sufficient levels of various vitamins and minerals (e.g. selenium). I made DH eat brazil nuts by the bucket load when we were TTC!! You say you've already got a good diet, so you probably don't need a supplement (though my personal view is that it can't hurt to take one!), but what about your other half? There's also evidence that men who drink heavily take longer to conceive - whereas the advice about cutting down on alcohol is usually aimed at the woman.

Otherwise, the best thing you can do is to make sure that you know when the right time to BD actually is - are you doing symptothermal charting?? I think it really depends on your personality and your situation. Some people get really stressed out by keeping a chart, but personally I needed to feel that there was SOMETHING I could do to help nature take its course (guess what, I'm a bit of a control freak!).
