Just started Letrozole and wanted to know if any of you had success stories. I am a little worried it might not worked seens clomid didn't work.

rugma I am in the middle of my first cycle on letrozole. I was a bit nervous about taking it, at first. I've been on two rounds of clomid before that and the lining didn't get thick enough, in my doc's opinion. I have IUI scheduled in the morning... so I'll let you know if it was successful in two weeks. For now, I've been much happier on Letrozole than Clomid, my hotflashes went away and (sorry if this is tmi) my CM returned to normal (completely vanished on Clomid). I may have had headaches as a side effect of Letrozole - but it's hard to tell since I'm prone to headaches, they could have been just related to stress at work. Another good factor is that letrozole is out of your system in hours as opposed to clomid that takes weeks.

Just because clomid didn't work, doesn't mean letrozole won't. In fact, that's probably why your doc switched - because letrozole can work on people when clomid doesn't. Best of luck - and please keep us posted on your progress.

sorry I meant rugama!

Thanks.

I am on my second day (2.5mg x2 a day) so far no side effects... before I was taking clomid (6months at 200mg a day)I did have good size follicles(1 follicle per cycle only) but no pregnancy. I don't know why that happens. But they say that for sure I "O" but didn't get pregnant. I hope Letrozole works for me... My doc. said I need to loose weight before continuing with new treatments so she just decided on 3x cycles of letrozole. (Easier said than done, right) I am hoping for the best....Good to know someone else is taking it let me know how it goes.

My doc told me that next cycle (if this one doesn't take) she's going to keep me on Letrozole but switch from menopur to gonal-f injections. Not sure how the IUI went today, DH's count was above what is normal for him, so that's good. Just have to wait and see now.

Any side effects yet?

rugama · 27/04/2009 18:01

No, None.. I am so happy.

but having some issues with my new nurse.

She almost gave me clomid again and I had to go over my treatment with her, can you believe it.....

Things like that happen... I know it's hard to believe, but they are people too. During my IUI my doc had a coughing fit and had to interrupt the proceedure to excuse herself for 10 minutes (which seems like an eternity when there is a syringe filled with sperm on the countertop WAITING!!!) I chuckle at it now, but at the time I was in disbelief. Stuff happens, but you were there to set the record straight. Glad you aren't having any side effects, that's wonderful.

Can you believe I just barely got a call from the nurse.... and well i have an appt on sunday at 7:30am ufff its my day off...wish me luck..

How is your cycle going... what day are you on.

I am on CD13 today and tomorrow I go in for the appt.

I am a tat little worried that it didn't work... I am trying to be strong again incase... theres always that doubt.

Usually I have a follie check on Day 10, ovidrel shot on Day 11 and IUI on Day 13. I'm on CD20, and still have 7 days before I can test... so I'm just waiting, as patiently as I can. I started having small amounts of pain seemingly coming from my left ovary and shooting into my lower back. I'm not sure if it means anything or not, but if all things were perfect, it may be implantation, but I'm doubtful at this time.

Are you just trying naturally (BDing) as opposed to IUI? Don't worry, the meds are very successful, I'm sure they had some impact on your system. I'm looking forward to your news on how large your follicle or follicles are! Good luck!

islegrin · 01/05/2009 22:57

Oh - I should mention that the protocols with clomid and letrozole were designed to produce high quality, but low QUANTITY of follicles. I was disappointed at not seeing multiple follicles (4+) but when I voiced that to my doctor, she said that was by design. She wanted to develop one or one on each side that were large and high quality.

So don't be upset if you don't have a lot of follies. That's only really essential when you are trying IVF, where they need multiple eggs.

Hi Islegrin,

Well, I had my appt on saturday and my follis weren't big enough I have another appt tomorrow to see where we at.

I had several but 2 were almost at 12mm and yes, I am only doing timed intercourse the doctor wants me to loose a bit of weight before we continue with IUI's.

I hope it goes well tomorrow.
