Period after L&D

Had a L&D this month, was told to expect my period at around the same time as usual, and it's arrived bang on cue, but is much lighter that expected and seems pretty much over after 3 days rather than the usual 5? Any ideas? They did remove a little bit of endo from one of my fallopian tubes, could that account for the lighter AF or should I be worrying about another EP?

Hi nomore- sounds like you are in same boat as me! Did they laser the endo? Any clues as to the impact on TTC?

Have you done a test?

My period after l&D was lighter but more painful.

How are you?

Hi M2O How are you? Where are you at yourself with ttc post-L&D?
I don't know whether they lasered the endo - the consultant just said he'd removed it. Follow up appt not til July, so I will have a very long list of questions by then
This period has been light and painless and is over now, I was expecting it to finish tomorrow.
I haven't got any pg tests but am thinking I might get one tomorrow, the rational part of my brain says there's very little chance of pg after L&D as they've been poking around down there around the time of ovulation and there's been no bed action since the L&D but there was before, so it's not impossible...oh who knows?? Think I will test just to rule it out.

OOOOH let me know!!!

We are ok. still no pregnancy

Had L&D back in December, didnt get results till February- turned out have got endo on left side and its done a little bit of damage. Consultant said she could not see left ovary and tube cos its stuck to my bowel. As far as TTC was concerned, she was not interested.... she didnt remove any endo or give me any answers- just said 'I can't possibly comment on the effect on your fertility'. Gee Thanks!

So saw my lovely GP for fertility clinic referral and that came through in 4 days!! Saw a lovely fertility cons who specialises in endo and he said he is confident we will manage it on our own so wants to give us a bit of time before doing any treatment. However, he did say that lasering and unsticking is a future option but wants to leave well alone for now to prevent further scarring. Had an internal scan which showed a bit of a mess on the left side- Nurse couldnt find my ovary and said that when she did catch a glimpse of it it looked 'cystic'. Day 21 test is normal. thats where we are for now- still TTC but slightly in limbo Funny thing was we thought DHs sperm test was a bit squiffy- Cons took one look at it and said it was absolutely fine- no problem. Great- just me then!!

Am having acupuncture which is defo helping with the pain- have had hardly any pain this month. Cant believe that for years I thought I suffered with a bad back and when I kept a diary of the pain, its endo pain! Its totally cyclic but very intense- was a few times I was sure I had slipped a disc! Ovulation is horrendous on my left side- leaves me in tears. At least I know why now.

Follow up appt is 23rd June.

Will let you know how I get on. After holiday this year we are starting to save for IVF- no harm in putting the money aside. I've found a clinic already! am convinced we will need help.

Nomore- can I have your e-mail again. Lost track of where it was last time and would love to stay in touch. Seems like we are in a similar place at the mo.

Lots of Love- hope you are ok flower.

email me on [email protected]

I had really bad period pain before I went on the pill but since I came off the pil my periods were never as bad as they'd been before. I think endo can be helped by going on the pill so I wonder if I had endo before?

Our follow up appt (post L&D) isn't til July Have got to have a HSG too, I'm doing everything backwards! It was the IVF consultant who referred me for the L&D and the L&D doc who's referred me for the HSG. My original fertility consultant only wanted to give me clomid then pass me onto the IVF clinic...

sounds like they have done everything arse about face!!

Let me know how you get on and I'll keep you informed too.

nomoremagnolia · 20/04/2009 21:01

It's all totally the wrong way round, but I'm not complaining because the first consultant was very much 'have 6 months of clomid, if it doesn't work come back and I'll refer you for IVF' rather than try to find out a reason for the problem. Now they seem to be looking into the reasons, even if it is 2 1/2 years late
email me just to send you address then we can stay in touch
