Hi folks...

I know that you're not supposed to take ibuprofen if you could possibly be pregnant, but what about during AF when TTC (so obviously not pg)?? Should I avoid at all times?

Thanks!!

My GP and pharmacist advice against any anti inflammatories when trying to conceive, so I took it to mean avoid all the time.

It horrible isn't it when you know they might take away the pain, but worth it in the end I am sure.

I took it to mean no ib at all times too, but my GP said I could take acetomenephen/ tylenol.

Thanks for the advice guys - just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing!

Ooh gosh I took one today and am in middle of cycle and ttc...

Didn't have a clue that you couldn't take it

Ilovebeingamummy · 16/04/2009 21:49

My understanding on this one (my dad is a pharmacist...) is that ibruprofen and other anti-inflamatories can inhibit blood flow through the cord and that is why they are not recommended in preg...

..so don't worry too much about taking them during af- its a bit early!

(although I have to admit I won't take them mid cycle 'just in case' (of what I don not know!)

Thanks ILBAM, that was my (limited ) understnading too. Will go and get some paracetamol just in case my loony, baby-obsessed brain stops me from taking 'brufen like it has with other things!! [WH gazes forlornly at peanut butter jar locked outside house]

worrisome - I feel your pain. I have had to stop using my Slendertone belt in case it hurts the baby (which even if we had conceived would be a bunch of cells in a very protective womb).

I'm sure it will be all for the best... {WH thinks surely a Snickers won't do any harm, there's hardly any peanuts in that..}
