Implantation bleed or what?

Aaagh! Been TTC. I know my cycle inside out as it were and was due on on Friday (28 days). I know we only managed one BD but that was around 4 days before I THINK I ovd (can't be sure as wasn't temping but all other signs there.)

Anyway AF hasn't arrived and am now 4 days overdue ( possibly 3) and had 2 negative HPTs. First Response.

Thing is though when AF was due had a really small bleed. Just a bit of brown discharge really and then it stopped. Never had this before. I feel like AF is about to start but still hasn't.

I would think that the HPT would be right wouldn't they? If it was an implantation bleed then such a sensitive test would surely pick up the hormone by now?

Just wish AF would start so would know for sure.

Any ideas?

I had the exact same. Had sex 3 times all month and they were nowhere near ovulation time. Had a bit of blood and then the next day black blood. Did a test last night- 4 days late- and I'm pregnant.

First response are rubbish.

Try a clearblue.

I remember holding off testing on the day that AF was due because I saw brown watery blood in the morning. By the afternoon, some lovely mnetters had persuaded me to test anyway - couldn't work out whether the Boots test had a cross in the box or it was just a shadow, so broke out a ClearBlue Digi that gave the right result

I have only ever had BFN's from First Response, so won't touch them - they have a bad association for me !

i had an implantation bleed with dd2 who is 11 weeks now had on 8-11 dpo just a brown smear.

Mumofbaby- congratulations on your BFP. One thing I would say is that you might want to mention the bleeding to your GP. Dark blood - like prune juice - can sometimes be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy. Your reference to "black blood" made me think that in your shoes I would get checked over and make sure everything is fine.

Fifitot - some people just don't seem to get BFPs until they are really late. The test manufacturers sometimes recommend waiting 19 days from the time you had the sex by which you could have conceived before testing, so maybe if you wait a few more days...

I had the exact same thing (except for the BFNs as I was convinced I wasn't pg so didn't bother testing). Only BD'd once and that was on the Saturday night and I thought I ovulated on the following Wednesday.
I then had spotting from the time my period was due until I was 11 weeks pregnant (found out I was pg at 7 weeks).
So the answer to your question is yes you could be pregnant and some pregnancies just take longer to get a BFP than others.

MrsHappy- really? That doesn't sound too good. I'm a little worried now that i've actually thought about the blood. I wonder if I've miscarried?

Well look, it is not my intention to worry you but if one of my friends told me they had had some unusual dark bleeding and a BFP I would tell them to get checked. I've had 2 ectopics and so am probably a bit oversensitive on the issue, but I figure it does no harm to get checked and then when everything is fine you can tell me to mind my own business in future !

Still a bit more discharge today but no sign of AF. No other symptoms.

This is driving me mad. Can't afford another test today so leaving it til Fri if I can hang on that long!

MrsHappy- I'm actually really pleased you told me as if it is anything to worry about, I can get checked early on. I've done my 6th test today and the positive line is even darker, so I'm booking in for the doctors for tomorrow morning.
