Ovulation tesing sticks: not positive

I'm ttc dc2. We conceived dd on our second cycle, really had just thought of ourselves as trying when I got pregnant. It has taken dp a while to come round to the idea of dc2 but now that we are ttc I just want it to happen asap, especially as he tends to need antidepressants over winter and these have reduced his libido and made him anorgasmic in the past.

Soo..I've been using ov. testing sticks this cycle (cycle 4 of ttc) but so far (d13, last cycle 24 days) they have never been positive. I did miss testing yesterday and haven't tested at the same time each day but I'm still concerned that I'm actually not ovulating although I can't think why not.

Any thoughts?

How old are you? Are you otherwise healthy? Sometimes women don't ovulate every cycle. Don't let that put you off trying. The older we get the longer it takes!!!

Are the sticks good? eg not damaged/expired etc

Try temping, it will show you are ovulating or not. OPKs only show if you get the hormone surge prior to OVing, not if you are actually releasing an egg. Try fertility friend dot com. If you do it, will tell you tons about your cycle and it is really helpful.

Thanks.

I'm almost 31 and otherwise healthy. I'm v slim but actually a few pounds heavier than when I conceived dd (aren't we all) and my body weight has never fluctuated more than half a stone up or down from what I am now really.

I keep forgetting to temp! I'm hopeless in the morning and I work shifts (on a night shift now) and although someone on here has dsaid that would still be fine I just end up going home and crashing out.

Will look at fertility friend.

LaDiDaDi - I am in exactly the same position as you - it's a bit spooky!

Did you get a +ve OP test yet??

Wheelybug · 08/04/2009 09:31

i got pregnant the cycle I didn't get a positive and that was with a digital test

tryingfornumber2 · 08/04/2009 09:33

You're the second person in five minutes to say that.

I should put them in the blardy bin!

tryingfornumber2, just posted on your thread aswell!!

LaDiDaDi, I never got a positive on the OPK the month that I conceived and now 31 weeks PG. I eventually based my decision on a light line, EWCM and temping!! We only BDd three times that month aswell.

So all in all, I don't rate the OPKs too highly. If you use one, one morning and get a very faint line and then the next day the line is darker again (but still not as dark as the control line) start BDing every other day from then and you should catch it!!

Good luck ladies!!
