Does anyone know much about ovulation?

I had been referred for an internal scan to check all was ok. Consultant said all looked fine and that I had either just ovulated or was just about to (as the follicles were measuring 15mm and 17mm). This was Friday morning but my OPK only showed positive this morning (Monday). So has this egg "cooked" too long, or are my hormone levels wrong not releasing the egg before now?

I thought it had to be over 20mm in which case your opk was probably right. Can you ring them up and check this?

Hi Warmseabreeze, I had a scan on thursday morning which was my CD9 my follicles were 13mm and 14mm, they gave me another 48hrs and then gave me ovitrelle to enduce ov.

On my last cycle i had two scans one on CD9 (follicle 12mm) and one on CD13 (follicle 19mm) and ov CD15 because ovitrelle was also given

I would say that you ov at the right time, if my cycle is anything to go by

Hi Marsha thanks for your reply. The consultant did say it generally should be about 20mm, but he seemed to think this would happen within 24hrs, when it actually took 72hrs. Is that normal?

Marshabrady i was told that anything over 20 and you run the risk of multi pregnancy and that it was upto 20 was OK

MarshaBrady · 31/03/2009 10:23

I think it is 2mm growth a day, again I would check with them because if it is, then 72 hours sounds about right.

really, oh I see, I'm not factoring in any kind of stimulant or drugs, does that make a difference.

Ovitrelle makes you ov 35hrs after it's been given, but if you haven't had it you should ov naturally

I had a scans done & they told me, i needed to get to 18mm, which is normal. I got to exactly 18mm when i overlated (on my own, without them being induced). Not every egg with burst. I had 3 eggs morturing, one overlated at 18mm & the other two stayed at 14mm & 16mm. Usualy only one egg/folli with mature enough to burst/ovulate, leaving the rest to stay immature & to dissolve without bursting/ovulating.
