Can anyone help before i go insane ?!?!?!

Im still trying to work out what is actually going on so if anyone can give me any advice i would much appreciate it, this is my 2nd post but i have more info now...........!

I have been having really long cycles, last full period was 17/12/2008, i did have a lighter bleed starting 02/02/2009 which wasnt as heavy as normal but would have put my cycle at btwn 45 and 48 days which it has been a for a few months now. SO......... AF hasnt arrived and last week i had 2 positive HPT and also a positive test at drs which from my lmp (going from the 02/02) you put me at 7.5 weeks, scan yesterday showed yolk sac and a tiny tiny tiny white dot inside it. Lady doing unltrasound said i was very early on and to go back in 3 weeks, She has guessed im at around 5 weeks - now does she mean 5 weeks from when my lmp would have been if i had a 28 day cycle? cos she said the sac was around 3 weeks old? That would have me concieving around 3 weeks ago, 03/03 which is what i suspected going on my recent 45-48 day cycles.

What im getting at is when i go back in 3 weeks is she expecting the little bean to be 6 weeks old ( which if im correct would put me at 8 weeks with a normal 28 day cycle? )

im really just worried that i will go back and they still wont see anything cos it will still be too soon, ive been reading ladies saying they have seen a heartbeat at 6 weeks, do they mean 6 weeks from lmp or 6 weeks from conception??

Im due back on the 16/04 which will put me at 6weeks and 2 days from guestimated time of conception??

Congratulations.

I was not sure when I conceived either. I went for a scan at about 7weeks from last bleed and the scanner said I was defo under 6 weeks. She could not find a heartbeat etc and said she would put me at around 5 weeks. I then insisted she did an internal scan and she found a bean with a heartbeat. Putting me under 6 weeks. I then had several other scan that kept putting me forward by a couple of days and by my dating scan I was spot on my dates. However I did think I had ovulated later too... But who cares by 12 weeks! I was just greatful baby was growing.

So in summary;
? Early scanning is not spot on for dates
? We saw a heartbeat at around 6 weeks
? try not to think much about ovulation etc... As who knows sometimes.... I was trying to conceive for so long, I give up!

Congratulations on your BFP.

From what you have said it sounds as though both the scan and you put your pregnancy at about 3 weeks from conception (so 5 weeks LMP if you pretend you have a 28 day cycle).

In three weeks time, you will be 8 weeks (LMP, again assuming a 28 day cycle).

As RahRah has said, early scanning is not 100% spot on. But at 8 weeks you would expect to see a bean with a heartbeat measuring the right size for gestation. You would normally hope to see a heartbeat from 6 weeks (LMP, so 4 weeks from conception), so by the time you go back you should be able to see that.

I recently had scans at the equivalent of 4+4 and 8+4. At 4+4 they saw a gestational sac only, but it was the right size for 4-5 weeks gestation and, while there is always a chance of loss, the doctors were encouraged by it being easy to see and the right size. At 8+4 they saw a bean which was (iirc)21mm from head to bum and which had a heartbeat.

This seems like a nice thread so wondered if i could join in?

Wont beet around the bush me and my DP have been TTC DC#1 for about 10month. Been haveing problems with ovulating . We have a GOF very very regularly, but still no luck. Also, i have been getting very of people around me that are already pg or people who already have a DC, but oh well. I am currently on CD10. So just waiting for ovulatiuon CM if it ever arrives.
