Chinese medicine and fertility

I was chatting with a mum at a playgroup recently.
She had had an ectopic pregnancy which damaged one of her tubes. She went to a womans hospital. They examined her and found her other tube was blocked. They advised she could only conceive with the IVF.
She did not accept that advice and went to a traditional Chinese Medical Practitioner.
She conceived naturally and has now happily a DD.
My sis has been trying for a babe for years. I hope Chinese Medicine could help her.
Thoughts?

No idea about Chinese Medicine, sorry!

However, blocked tubes are usually diagnosed by a dye test which leaves room for error.
IME, the advice in subfertility clinics is usually along the lines of "unlikely to conceive naturally" rather than "must have IVF". If it is a private fertility clinic there are of course financial incentives to suggest IVF is only option....

Hopefully somebody will be along who knows about Chinese Medicine. Just beware of other people's stories: they rarely give you the full picture and everybody's situation is different. Also, conception still remains a bit of a lottery.

Good luck to your sister.

A friend of mine swears by chinese medicine too, she had had problems conceiving and 2 miscarraiges and an eptopic, she took the concoction every day as adviced and is due next month really pleased for her, am having loads of problems myself and definitly contemplating it.

I've not tried it for fertility problems but am generally a fan of some alternative medicines and found reflexology helpful. My mum uses chinese medicine for her psoriasis and has been really impressed

she should definitely go to see a TCM practitioner to get advice. and bring all her test results with her. a good chinese/TCM doctor will tell her if chinese medicine is likely to help her. I have used chinese medicine in my fertility treatment and during pregnancy (YUCK as you have to swallow tons of foul smelling elixirs) so am generally positive about it but not sure it can open up tubes.
