Hi
Can anyone help me I feel I am ready ttc again after erpc a few weeks ago. Not sure what my periods will be like has anyone used the Clearblue Fertility Monitor or their Ovulation Tests - which would you recommend? And what really is the difference. Temping is out for me - so am trying to find an alternative. Or any other recommended methods.

Hi timmette
Sorry about your MC. It's rubbsih isn't it.

I don't know about the fertility monitor but didn't want to leave your post unanswered.

OPKs are definitely going to help. Your periods will be a bit weird for a while though so you might also need some extra patience.

Good luck x

Hi timette
sorry to hear bout your mc. I had one last wk and also had a D&C. I'm desperate to conceive again and for the 1st time in my life can't wait to get my AF. Thought I'd join this thread as I also want to know what's the best to use. I was lucky enough to fall !st attempt with both my DD and my lost bubba but no longer trust my body and just wish I knew what my body was going to do nest. Have already started on the grapefruit juice.
Have my fingers crossed for you.

OPK's detect increasing LH hormone a couple of days pre-ovulation, CFM also tracks estrogen which build up gradually and will give you more warning of ovulation and potentially a bigger window to try as sperm live for up to 48 hrs pre ovulation and the egg lives for 24 hrs.
I used sticks for a while then switched to CFM as i need more warning as DH travels a lot. If you're desperate i'd say just go for the CFM more thorough option straight away - it's more expensive but you may find after a few months you'll want it anyway. I wish i'd bought it sooner. Expensive but this is my life's priority at the moment.
Have a look at the CFM website it shows you in detail how it works - sorry don't have a link.
Good luck xx

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply - I really appreciate it. I think I will give the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor a try - but yikes it costs a lot.
Neeko - I also like you fell pregnant first time with my son and also the twins I just lost - but feel incapable now.

Timmette I really feel for you. I can't believe how much I took it all for granted. Feel like my body let me down and I've let everyone else down. It goes against everything a mum's supposed to be and is just so cruel. Obviously I haven't had my 1st AF yet so i'm going to wait and see when it comes before I decide what to do next. It's really unfair how expensive it all is and I have a cheek to moan as I've only just started.
I'm going back to work tomorrow and am praying I'll get through the day without crying.
Stay strong. x

So sorry to hear about your m/c I had one too fifteen months ago and have struggled to get pg again. I started a medical trial with Clearblue that I found on their website. I have been able to use the c/b monitor for six months free and in return have sent them urine samples, kept a diary etc. I would recommend the monitor it lets you know when your fertility is increasing and not just when you are ovulating. I don't know if they are still running the trial. Hope you give yourself a bit of time to grieve your loss having a m/c is horrible but I also know the urge to try again straight away is v strong. Hope you get pg again soon

I am in this situation too - 2 mcs last year in sept and dec and no bfp since despite enough bding to drive me mental... have just been monitoring CM but in my final bid for a baby in 2009 (bfp this month would be edd of 27/12/09 - really should stop working that out every month ...)

So bought a clearblue FM which i have been using since CD5 this cycle. Now on CD 12. got 34 day cycle so think I will need 20 sticks this month.

Hope someone else is starting with the FM and we can support each other??

Good luck all...Timmette I so understand the feeling incapable bit x

pS got my monitor from Chemist direct - after comparing with ebay etc the £64 seemed the best deal from them.

And of course when I finally get my BFP (I will I WILL I WILL!!) I can ebay it on.

HTH someone else wanting to get one x

timmette · 27/03/2009 17:14

Thanks all I had a very drawn m/c which dragged on and off over 10 weeks - so I have done my crying and think I am ready to move on. Anyway haven't had a period yet since erpc 2 weeks ago.
Can I just ask if you have to start using the FM on the first day of your period - or can start anytime?
So sorry to hear about your losses

Hi. I had a second MC 2 weeks ago-this time very early at 6 weeks, the first one was at 12 weeks. Very devastated and still trying to come to terms with it.

I'll be using the CBFM too as desperate for a BFP again. You can only set the monitor between Day 1-5 of your cycle or you'll have to wait for the next cycle if you miss it. You also get a -3h and +3h window to do the test in ie if you set it at 9am then you can test any time between 6am -12 noon. The instruction says to wait for 2-3 cycles before using the monitor but I'm going to use it once AF is here. With the 1st MC it took 7 weeks to finally get AF but I'm hoping it won't take that long this time.

So sorry to read of everyone losses. Good luck and baby dust to us all. Would be great to have CBFM buddies WW x
