Are there specific fertility issues that acupuncture can deal with....?

Or can it deal with a range of issues?

I've had no problem conceiving, just had problems keeping the babies. I have no idea why. I was wondering if acupuncture would help, even if I don't know what's wrong with me.

I think that acupuncture can be quite specific about what it addresses. I went to see someone specifically about trying to get pregnant, she looked at my temp charts etc before actually treating me, she specialised in fertility treatment acupuncture. Have to say, didn't actually do the trick re conceiving (ended up with good old medical science sorting us out!) but did find it relaxing in an odd kind of way. So I would say give it a go and good luck

HeadFairy, I had two m/cs before I had my DS - had acupuncture with first two in run up to IVF cycles but stopped after conception, with the third carried on with acupuncture til 20th week of pg.

No idea if it made any difference or if it's just co-incidence cos obviously you can't recreate the same pg twice, but I certainly found it helped me psychologically to deal with an extremely stressful first trimester.

HTH .

Thanks for that hairygodmother and spongebrainbigpants.... I'm quite tempted, I've had it before for a back problem. Didn't help my back really, but I'm pretty open minded and would try anything. But wondered if I needed to go with a specific problem for them to treat. I think I have low progesterone, I don't know for sure, I want to persuade my GP to do the tests, but I wondered if I could have a bit of acupuncture and it would sort out everything that may or may not be wrong.

You never know, it might do the trick! When I was ttc I tried pretty much everything, just be open minded about it and maybe it will help. And as spongebrain (!) says, it might help you even just pschologically. Incidentally, I had low progesterone too, just a quick blood test towards end of cycle iirc and then took progesterone tablets. Try the acupuncture anyway, why not!!

Hairygodmother, I'm quite tempted to try it. I did find it very relaxing last time, even though it didn't work. There is an acupuncturist at the place I went to last time who specialises in fertility, so I might give her a call and have a chat to see if she needs a specific problem to treat or if she can generally help.

I have had acupuncture for fertility issues and found it was great in dealing with the specific issue - very irregular af's, and also improving my general wellbeing. Do give it a go it certainly won't do any harm.
