I go for egg collection on Thursday. Excited and scared of failure.

Is anyone currently going through this?

Flumpette,
Just want to wish you a big congrads and a healthy 8 months ahead,

Cll · 05/05/2005 15:52

Sadly no. I think they advised her to stop taking the cyclogest (as you know I wanted her to do another test first, but hey it's her body) and she has now started to bleed in clots. She'd had three 4-5 cell embryos put back and her womb lining was good, so who knows what happened. She's of course beating herself up about not relaxing enough, working too hard (she has to as she's noone else to support her financially), not wanting it enough ie being scared of doing it alone.... all the usual stuff.

Still we're going to go again in Sept assuming her fsh stays healthy (currently 7ish) and look into adoption as well in case that atempt doesn't work. She'll be 43 in July.

Wishing you all loads of love and luck

BeachedWhale · 05/05/2005 16:10

well done Flumpette and many congratulations.

chiplet · 05/05/2005 20:21

Cll - really sorry about your sister's situation. £7,000 is an awful lot of money.
Flumpette - thanks for the support. I'm trying to stop thinking about it and just getting on with it.
fingers crossed.

bayleaf · 05/05/2005 20:40

Heeeyyyyy! Way to go Flumpette!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's brilliant news!
How exciting... have you worked out what it's due? I didn't let myself until the first scan - but not everyone's as wimpy as me!
Am really pleased for you - congratulations...

Glenbrae · 06/05/2005 15:09

Just had my third unsuccessful attempt at IVF. The first 2 were at Chelsea and Westminster and the last at the Lister. In my follow up consultatio nthe Doctor told me my embryos were fairly poor quality (don't hold back !). Anyone else had this - mine were Grade 2 and 2-4 cell cleavage ?

Thanks.

wendy11 · 06/05/2005 17:34

I have what might seem a really silly question but here goes: When going for egg collection do they go through the cervix and up through the uterus to the ovaries or through the wall of the vagina and sort of cross country to the ovaries. I really don't want to ask this question at the clinic but I want to be prepared for egg collection next month. Hope someone can help. Thanks.

bayleaf · 06/05/2005 20:06

Wendy - through the cervix
Glenbrae - have you tried accupunture and chinese herbs? Just that after 6 failed transfers I did and my 7th worked! I went from 2 fertilising ( of a dozen ish) onthe cycle before to 11 fertilising on my successful cycle....
Any ivf questions ( I know I keep advertising this board but for ivf it is hard to beat...) look at the bulletin board at www.carefertility.com
Good luck both of you!

Hi All. Day 14 is here and BFP is a lot darker. Very emotional and very very tired.

DH working out dates and he reckons 1st two weeks in Jan, but I hadn't thought that far.

Confused on poor quality of embryos Glenbrae. We have just had success at the Lister and I had two grade 2, 4 cell embryos implanted and the Doctor was really positive and they even said that the no. of cells was far more important than the grade and that a 4 cell was their optimum.

Looks like you need to talk to them again as that is such a conflict. We felt really positive having been given that news. Good Luck x

Wow Flumpette - great news! I'm so pleased for you. Been away for a week so no computer access and then DS was sick yesterday so this is first chance to check out what's going on. Really happy for you!

Looks like we will delay our attempt till September - we have so much going on over the summer with visitors etc and then the doc will be away in August. So Sept will hopefully work - trying to organise the timing is a nightmare as I go home to Dublin a lot. My next period is due next week but DS needs an op in Dublin on 1 June so the timing won't work. Then we have friends arriving from Bangkok for 3 weeks. So possibly July but more than likely September.

Anyway - fingers crossed for you! Hope all continues well.

F x

Hi. Thank you. At moment I'm bloated but don't feel pregnant which is weird.

Your life sounds really busy. Good Luck for the minor op and Good Luck in September.

Thanks for support over last few weeks. Flumpette x

Thanks Bayleaf for tips on acupuncture, have been going to Zita West clinic for that. Wil ltry the chinese herbs though - where did you go for that ?
Flumpette - at Lister I only had 2 cells hence poor quality. They seem to be very slow at cell dividing. Will keep on trying !

NatureDoc · 10/05/2005 13:46

I just lookd on the site for the www.rchm.co.uk - I think 9 will check it in a mo)and then spoke to people who were reasoably local - the place that inspired me was in London - the Zhai clinic I think ( again I'll check in a mo!) but I'm in the midlands. I didn't REALLY believe it could make any difference - but it made ALL the difference!

bayleaf · 10/05/2005 20:03

yes it's www.rchm.co.uk and www.zhaiclinic.co.uk
