Hi..

ok baring in mind my periods are very irregular while on the pill. i came came off the pill in december after what i think was a chemical pregnancy. I had a period in January 5th - 9th which wasn't proper but was brown and enough to call a period. Then my next period was the 6th - 10th Feb which was normal. ok so now here we are the 15th March and still no period. I have had unprotected sex as OH and i have decided that if it happens we will both be happy. I did a first response today as well as many cheapies last week and they all come up neg so what is going on?? I did have bad period pains the day that i thought i was expecting my period (6th march) but nothing happened and also my boobs are heavy but not overly that i think i am pregnant. I know that it could be just the pill coming out of my system but its startin to bug me not knowing what is going on.

I would be grateful for any opinions or advice as i'm going slightly crazy wondering whats going on.

Thanks xx

You poor love! There is nothing in the world worse than no period (unless you are pregnant of course and then its great if thats the aim), irregular periods or lots of heavy or light bleeding and never knowing where you are at in your cycle!

First question, Are you on the mini pill? If you are then apparently that wont regulate your periods anyway so that may help with the irregular bit whilst on the pill.
The other point to know is that it can take as long as 12 months or more for your cycle to sort itself out after stopping the pill.

Its sods law that if you just missed one pill and had unprotected doo da then you would get pregnant! When you think ok if it happens it happens and youve come off the pill, you can bet it will take longer. Stress plays a large part in conceiving along with lifestyle influences such as smoking and alcohol (especially for men).

Sorry, going off the topic a bit.
I would certainly say that its possibly a time factor and the fact that you had irregular periods anyway. have you ever had a regular cycle? I would give it a few more months to see if your period settles into a more regular pattern first and then maybe cnsider a visit to your GP for a hormone profile. If you have never had regular cycle, it could be that you do not ovulate, or may ovulate a lot later in your cycle if it is longer. One would normally ovulate around 2 weeks before the end of your cycle (the day before you start bleeding). Sorry, i hope im not being patronising and telling you things you may already know!
Do you have any signs of ovulation? Wthout being too personal, do you remember at what point during your cycle you had Doo Da!!?

I think the advice is monitor your cycle, write down any signs of ovulation and keep a record for around the next 6 months. If things havent settled then i would certainly request a hormone profile blood test from your GP.

Hope that helps? x

PS, meant to say "were you on mini pill" not "are"! ;-0

hiya, thank you for your reply. No please don't think you are patronising i really appreciate any help anyone is offering. I was on the minipill microval and i know that i used to ovulate as i have a 4yr old dd from a previous relationship. We did the hoo ha around 13th - 16th feb as he was home (he works away) and i do try to keep note of when i ovulate but its hard as i seem to have a lot of discharge always. thanks again xxx

some info on chemical pregnancies here

If its any help, when you ovulate it's quite different to the usual discharge we may get. It's like egg White that is very slippery and breaks easily and then it changes to thicker stickier, and stretchy eggwhite consistency as ovulation comes to an end. It sounds like you had doo da before you ovulated. If your cycle was 28 days you would have probably ovulated around day 14 and hop ha would have been ideal anytime from day 12-17.
Although your periods were irregular on the mini pill, did you notice any pattern or was it all over the place?
The mini pill wouldn't regulate your periiods and although you have a child it may be that you haven't been ovulating every month. Some woman don't. Did you have regular periods when you had your previous child?

Xxx

hi, no i have never ever had regular periods when i was about 17 i went on to the depo injection which made me bleed for over a yr they even tried hrt tablets to help sort it out but no joy. I went back onto the pill which stopped the bleeding but back then i was pants at remembering it hence my beautiful daughter. After that i went on to the minipill again but didn't know when to expect my periods i just got used to wearing a pantiliner or tissue everyday. Then a couple of yrs ago i had the implant put in which made me a proper bitch troll from hell. I hated the world and everyone in it so i had that removed after a yr. With that i had periods once every few months. So I went back onto the minipill as that was the only thing that seems to agree with me ok. well i say ok i just mean it didn't make me really moody. There wasn't really a pattern in it though i just bled once every 2-3 months. so now i'm having a break as OH is away for couple of months (well has about a month left) and the only pattern seems to have been this past 2 months.

By the way i just wanna say i love your hoo ha words..hehe

Also the only weird thing i found stange was on the 21st Feb i had very very runny discharge sorry bout the too much info lol it was loads though i thought i had come on heavy. Not sure if that is any help. xxx
