Is it ok to diet whilst ttc?

I'm about to enter my 4th month of ttc. I have been wanting to shift at least a stone, ideally a stone and a half for quite a while now.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it's a bad idea to diet before/whilst ttc.

It wouldn't be an extreme diet as such, just cutting out chocolate crisps etc and trying to make more healthy choices, for eg: salad instead of chips

Anyone have any info on whether this is considered ok? I assume if i'm just eating a healthy, varied diet it should be but wanted to check

Eating healthily is absolutely fine.....and if you lose weight - great! You have nothing to worry about and this may actually help you to fall pregnant more quickly -- as in being even slightly over or underweight can affect your chances of conceiving. So definitely go ahead and good luck!

I'd say it's fine to diet. When you consider that some people abuse drugs and alcohol habitually and punish their bodies in all sorts of other ways and still manage conceive I don't think you;d be taking any sort of risk by cutting down on your food intake or cutting out certain foods.

You can still maintain a healthy balanced diet which gives you all the vitimins and nutrients that your body needs and lose weight at the same time.

what you suggest sounds fine, go for it and good luck!

It sounds like rather than dieting you will in fact just be eating more healthily. Surely it's a good thing to be getting your calories from vegetables rather than chocolate!!!!
