Do any TTC'ers worry about their favourite names being nicked?

Cos I do! I know that there are more important things to worry about, (such as conceiving and giving birth to a healthy baby), but I have a couple of names that I love, love, love and will cry if my preg friends use them for their babies.

You can't really 'bagsy' a name though can you? (can you? )

You can maybe give a subtle hint that they are your names and only to be used by you .

Doesn't bother me personally, as I have wanted a particular name for a boy since I was little and all my friends find it funny so I am guessing they won't be using it, and if they did then they will have to share it.

I know, i just feel superstitious about sharing the names before they have been conceived let alone born.

But also, what about friends of friends, and their families? I couldn't ask them to back off my names!

of course it is silly really - it's just that time of day

anyway - thanks for answering. I was getting all a bit, ooo don't leave me hangin!

I know what you mean, I told everyone the boys name I had picked when I was about 12 and I have never looked back.

You can't stop it really unless of course you pick a very unusual name and then you stand a stronger chance of it not being used.

Good luck with trying and with managing to keep the names all to yourself

Thanks and you too - well with the first bit anyway.
I can't believe you still like the same name you liked when you were twelve.

Not sure of exact age, I was at secondary school in the earlier years, there was a girls name too, but went off that.

We might both be thinking of the same now

It's amazing how the names we liked at the start of pregnancy had changed by the end.

Ds' name was chosen on the slip road driving to hospital to be induced two weeks overdue, as we still hadn't decided for sure .

And don't tell ANYONE or it's guaranteed to be taken!
