Scan at 7wks + 2 days - no heartbeat but quite high HCG levels 6,540

Had a scan this morning and they couldn't detect a heartbeat nor could they see a yolk sac. Sizing a little small too so not a great sign. HCG levels quite high at 6,540 so another blood test booked for Thursday to see if HCG levels rising. Has anyone had a similarly gloomy prognosis at this stage and then had a positive outcome? TIA

Are you sure on your dates?

I've been in a similar position to you, and my clinic told me the range of HCG levels for 7-8 weeks pregnant is 2,500 to 80,000, so you are in the normal range for HCG levels

I went for an early scan at what my midwife and I thought was week 7, they never saw a yolk sac or hb so i feared the worst and cried constntly. i got blood taken for test and then returned 48 hours later and the results more than doubled (which the doc will be looking for in your results) thank god mine did and now I am going on 25 weeks and can feel my baby kicking me as i'm typing this.

Had results of today's blood test and HcG levels 7,863 - on Tuesday they were 6,540 so obviously not looking good. I have another scan booked for next Tuesday and will have another blood test then.

Thanks lauraloo. Might have been easier if today's levels had been falling as I'd then have known for sure whereas now I have an unrealistic glimmer of hope.

Thanks for your support and kind words. I had another scan today. Last week they saw an empty sac - today they saw small yolk sac and fetal pole, no HB and sac still 2 weeks smaller than it should be. HCG levels 10k - have risen since last Thurs when they were 7k but obviously haven't nearly doubled. Doctor wants me to stop taking progesterone as he thinks this may be delaying a miscarriage. He wants to do another HCG level on Thurs and a progesterone test. Am tempted to continue with the progesterone but wondering if just delaying the inevitable. Had IVF which is why I'm on progesterone. Doctor said pregnancy will produce progesterone and stopping it for a couple of days won't make much difference as it's only a small supplement. Anyone else had a similar experience? TIA

Hi new to this sight, well i was told at bearly 5 weeks i had a blighted ovem an would need a dnc i said no would wait 2 moor wks my HCG went from 21,370 to 49,324 in a wk an half had a scan last thus saw that my baby had grown but no heart beat said must have died that am, was devastated wanted me to have D N C that day said no as they wear wrong befor got scan tommo, had H C G taken on monday just gone 2 days after last 1 but only gone up to 50,345 not much but still going up a week after say my baby has died just dont know what to think , i had a missed miscarige last year only found out at 13wk scan baby died at 7 wk had to have D N C then so glad had early scans this time or would not know till end of april at my 12 wk scan that same thing has happend again but will know tommo if still no heart beat will have D N C tommo if any beds available good luck to every body sorry if seem to babble. im 42 and hope i can still have a baby in the future 1st for my dear hubby 2nd for me , mind you my son is 21 hardly a baby ha ha .
