Just come off the pill

I need some advice! I have just come off the pill (Yasmin) after being on it for about 4 years. I only came off last week but I am feeling dreadful! I have stomach ache (like period pains), feel sick, tired and generally unwell. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm guessing its just a side effect of coming off the pill and your body readjusting but I just want to get some reassurance! Also, does anyone know how long its likely to go on for??

Hi lb09. I had exactly the same when i came off the pill fairly recently, having been on it for approx 7 years. I think it is just your body adjusting to the hormonal changes.

Mine went away when my first period came - bang on 28 days later. Although I had AWFUL PMT - I was in the most foul mood for about 4 days before it arrived.

The other annoying thing is that the withdrawal symptoms are like early pregnancy symptoms, so not ideal if ttc, but it could be both! Hopefully it will pass soon. I read somwhere that the pill takes about 1 week to leave your system and after that it will be withdrawal.

Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Kinsroadie, its reassuring to know that other people have had the same experience. I didn't really get period pains whilst on the pill which is probably why its come as such a shock. I could also do without the all day nausea at well
I can sympathise on the PMT front as well as I spent last night in tears for no reason!

I have come off the pill to ttc but I'm guessing that it will take a while for my body to readjust to the pill being out of my system and ovulation starting again?

Fingers crossed it will pass soon!

It is impossible to say - some people get pg immediately, others take a while to get normal periods back again.

So glad to find someone else having nausea after coming off pill. I came off 5th Jan and been feeling sick and tired for about 5wks but negative tests and no AF.
Was on pill for 10 months and didn't realise it would take so long for AF to appear,
have been confused! would love to get an idea of how long it takes to stabilise.

I say this every time anyone posts about coming off the pill, but here goes again... get some Agnus Castus from Holland and Barrett or Boots. It'll make you feel better and sort your cycle out. It's fantastic!

Thanks for the tip Broodzilla. I have just been out to buy some from Holland + Barrett!! Thankfully the period pains have passed a bit but I am willing to give anything a go if it helps!! Any other advice gratefully received
