I have a 2-day-old son and am breastfeeding. Birth itself (my first) was very rapid and easy - difficult to believe given that he was 9lb 8.5! - but there are no tears, grazes, stitches or anything so I'm not waiting for anything to heal. Am I looking at much of a wait?

hi. congrats on your little boy!

its not so much about the outside after giving birth, (although it is if you have any tears!) its about the inside...your womb needs to contract back to its original size, and you'll need to stop bleeding too i think, to make sure that all is ok before putting essentially a foreign object into your body...

your gp will give you a check up at 6 weeks, and once this is done, and all is ok, you can have it then.

you can use condoms if you want to have sex....but only do it when you're ready.
