To test or not to test.....?

I'm on day 32 of a 29 day cycle. I've had a test amnesty and made my DH hide them from me! We've been TTC for 8 months and I've become a fantastic symptom spotter....however... this month feels different. Boobs are sore to the touch (I keep prodding them to make sure they're still sore ), very tired, emotional etc etc. I am scared to death though, I'm getting sick of negatives and am trying not to set myself up for a disappointment.
Do I make him give me back a test????

Have you did the test yet?? I hope you get your BFP.

EntersStageLeft · 02/03/2009 22:13

Yeah definitely. Don't advocate testing early but you're not - you're 3 days late.

Go for it.

BFN
Now on day 33... I'm using those cheapy test strips from ebay (these). Not heard anything about how good they are. Looks like I'll have to wait it out till the weekend.

I used ebay cheapies like those, and I didn't get a positive (very very faint) till I was a week late, then did a clearblue one and it came up positive straight away!
had some left and only got a strong positive when I was 2 weeks late! it turns out I'm pregnant with twins.
So imo the tests are crap. First response are good and clearblue.
Good luck

Did you do it first thing this morning?
Does your cycle length vary?

Those tests are fine, I've used them

EldonAve · 03/03/2009 07:22

x posts with LargeGlassofRed
tests could be dodgy of course

do you know how many DPO you are?

lollystar · 03/03/2009 18:05

Sorry been at work. Tested first thing and cycles are 29 or 30 days. Averages out at 30 days and I think I must be about 17dpo (roughly, not sure exactly when I ovulate). Will be waiting it out till the weekend now I think. I googled the tests for reviews and they seem to be really hit and miss with people. One woman didn't get a positive till 8 weeks, she'd known since 4 weeks, others got a result straight away.

Congratulation LGoR - are they your first?

WOw well done for waiting till the weekend I'm awful at obsessive testing
Twins number 4 an 5
Goodluck for the weekend!

ShowOfHands · 04/03/2009 21:21

I tested positive at 8dpo with ebay cheapies.

HumphreysCorner · 04/03/2009 21:25

I got a result at 11 DPO both times. Quite faint but there.

Hmmmm, last night I had a small bleed (old blood), nothing in underwear just when I wiped, and went to bed devastated in tears. This morning had three tiny spots of blood in my underwear. From what I've read, it's too late for an implant bleed, but the bleeding has stopped.
Tested with my last ebay test this morning (couldn't help myself! ) and it was negative again.
Suppose I've got to wait and see now, will my period start before my clear blue test is delivered (I'm a lazy cow and don't like going to the shops!!)?? Going to the doctors this morning anyway, so may mention it to him.
LGoR - WOW, 4 and 5!! Congratulations

Thought I'd update you as you've been kind enough to offer advice. The bleeding has started again and it's heavier. I'm gutted, but I'm not going to kid myself that it's an implant bleed.
The doctor has requested blood tests to confirm pg, and to test ovary function. The bleeding started again after I'd seen him which is typical otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it.
I've been off the pill for 8 months, the first month I was late but I expected that with it being the first month. Every month since has been regular (29 or 30 days) and I never felt pregnant. This time I did. Still do actually.
Toss.

I'm so sorry. It's so disheartening and upsetting. Be kind to yourself. I've been there. It took me 14 months and a miscarriage to conceive dd and I have no fertility issues. It's a hard road.

lollystar · 05/03/2009 14:10

Thanks SoH. I had a mc before my DD too. I knew I was pg this time, but didn't want to admit it to myself for fear of this.
