Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

Wow! You guys have been chatty! Not been on much as DH needs the laptop for uni work. Just had a visit from FIL, had to hide any folic acid etc as he doesn't know we're going to be TTC in a few months, and I can't bear all the questions he likes to ask!

I've got less than 6 months waiting time left now and I'm about to sing the 'final pill' song as I've only got 2 left in the packet!

Medee - I feel your excitment about the last few pills, its so exciting and yet so scary! I've no idea whether what my cycle will do as I can't remember if I was regular before the pill! I've got a diary to write down dates etc and hopefully symptoms (just so I know whats normal and whats not). Love your idea of creating a new thread for us WTTC'ers to move over to, be nice to still have the support of others from this thread.

Welcome to Hamster,Ilovesprouts, LadyBee and MissyMimi

Claire - exciting news about you being able to TTC on your meds. Good luck! I've had a read of the TTC threads on here, they're scary! I think the first person to leave here ready to go TTC should have the honour of starting our new thread

Hi Ladies

Just back from a few days away - less than a week from the end of the final packet. a kind person from another forum has sent me some ovulation predictor thingies (she's pregnant and they have an expiry on them), so shall test them out in a few weeks to see what my cycle is doing.

HoumousMonster · 18/06/2009 15:38

That's fabulous news Claire!

Docotrs can be so frustrating, but at least you are on the right medication and don't have to wait any longer!

Sorry I disappeared, I needed a bit of a break. It's less than three weeks now till we TTC and I'm turning into a bundle of nerves.

I'm not sure if I'll move over to a TTC thread. It may depend on how things go I guess.

Hobnob76 · 18/06/2009 19:31

Hi all,

Well I can finally sing the 'final pill' song myself! Took my final pill on Sunday, felt a bit weird but it the mo it just feels like a normal 7 day break from the pill. Maybe it'll hit home on Monday when I don't start a new pack. Just have to be careful for a few more months now til we can start TTC. Am rather scared now, as I've been on the pill since the age of 18 (I'm now 33). Just hope my periods fall into some sort of regular cycle.

Hello all, good to see you Hobnob and HoumousMonser.

Medee, you've really started something with that song of yours, we all want to join in . Did you enjoy your few days away? It'll be interesting to see how you get on with the predictor thingies. Are you going to wait for your cycle to get 'back to normal' before you start, or are you going to start straight away?

Hobnob, I saw your post the other day was going to post then got sidetracked, good to see you back . After all the confusion with my meds and GP's advice, I was already in my 7 day break when I found out it would be ok for us to start ttc, so I missed the final packet/pill song - did you sing it? So DH and I have been hmmm BD , I know I've just stopped taking the pill and haven't had a period yet, but I wanted to get started straight away. I'm also aware that it might take a few months for my cycle to get back to normal, we're going for it anyway - good practice if nothing else . How long are you planning on waiting to ttc?.

HoumousMonster, I thought about you the other day and wondered how you were getting on and here you are! How are you?, how's your health? No need to apologize about being away, I had some time out for a few weeks, it can all get a bit much sometimes, I think we all understand that here. Not long for you now . I've been lurking on the TTC threads, haven't taken the plunge yet, Medee had the idea of us starting a graduates from the waiting to TTC thread! I'm too chicken to start it myself .

Goodnight all, I'm off to watch another episode or two of the first series of Damages, we got the box set after coming to it half way through the second series on BBC1 and found it fantastic yet confusing! We'll probably get the second series on dvd before the third series is screened on tv, just to be completely on the ball .

MrsPigeon · 19/06/2009 08:18

hello ladies, and welcome to new people.

have also not been on much recently, glad to see all is progressing and the final pill song is getting a good airing.

Hobnob76 I feel exactly the same as you - took my last pill on Tuesday and then of course nothing different happens ... am hoping I will feel differently next week when I don't start a new pack. I veer between worrying my periods will never come back, and worrying that we will get pregnant immediately because we won't be able to use condoms properly or something. Half the time I'm thinking, 'how will I cope if I suddenly find out I'm expecting a baby in April?', and the other half I'm thinking, 'how will I cope if my periods are totally irregular or it turns out we can't have kids?' Hmm, I think I'm over-thinking this one...

Love the idea of a new thread but am also a little scared of those TTC threads so might hang on here a bit longer...

Have a good weekend all xx

Medee · 19/06/2009 17:48

Hello ladies, we seem to go in fits and starts on this thread.

It was the "final pii-iill" today, dun-dun-dun. (Sorry if I have earwormed you all!) Aiming for one normal period, then trying. I have vague memories of having the little pain at ovulation so if that remains after 10 years on the pill, that will be useful to start getting to know my cycle again.

Medee · 19/06/2009 17:55

I've having those thoughts too, MrsP. I reckon it's just practice for 9 months of worrying, followed by worrying for the rest of our life about our offspring.

Hobnob76 · 19/06/2009 22:46

Claire - Am planning on waiting a least another few months, ideally December would be the best time for us to start TTC. Which will give DH a good few months of having finished uni and maybe he'll have a job before a due date if we were lucky enough to get pg straight away so really we just need to be careful for about 4/5 months.

MrsPidgeon - I could have written your post myself, you managed to put into very articulate words what I struggled to say! I know exaclty how you feel, and I have to say I feel mighty relieved that someone else feels like me I think you may have hit the nail on the head when you say maybe we're overthinking it! How long have you been on the pill ? I came off Femodene after nearly 15 yrs of being on it.

Medee - Lol, yes we do seem to go in fits and starts on this thread, I'm going to try and stay on track with it now! Yay for being able to sing the 'final pill'song! Hope you get your period back straight away and you can start TTC then

MrsPigeon · 20/06/2009 08:27

Congratulations on doing the song medee ! I am looking forward to getting to know my cycle too (unless it turns out I have really heavy painful periods, then I'll be reminiscing about the good old pill days).

Hobnob76, December is our official TTC month too! I've been on different pills just over 10 years - the last one was Dianette which I've been on for quite a while. It is really reassuring to know people feel the same way. Sometimes I think it would just have been easier to have had an accident whilst still on the and have everything decided for us that way - although taking Dianette can do nasty things to a foetus so maybe not so good in my case!

Have a good weekend ladies X

MrsPigeon · 20/06/2009 08:28

that should say 'whilst still on the pill'

Medee · 20/06/2009 10:20

Me too, MrsP - I had terrible cramps for the first day or two of my period, I'm really hoping they've gone away.

HoumousMonster · 20/06/2009 22:44

Bah! Make that 5 weeks now. I seem to have worked myself into such a bother the last two months I've had really short cycles (24 days instead of 30ish).

Unfortunately that week makes a lot of difference.

Hobnob76 · 21/06/2009 12:18

MrsPigeon - I should have said that I've been on differing pills too over the last 14 yrs. I started on Femodene, then they took me off as there was a pill scare in the late 90's, think I then went on the Logynon, then another different one (as Logynon made my boobs sore) then I went back onto Femodene (been on this for about 4 yrs again). I know what you mean about wishing for an accident I'm slightly worried as my 3 sisters have all got pg whilst on the pill, probably because they didn't take it right but I've had slip ups and not got pg, or is it just because I've been too careful after a tummy bug or forgetting to take it

I'm on the last day of my last pill induced period. I'm going to miss the fact that I won't be able to pinpoint exactly when my period is going to start!

OP posts:
decafgirl · 22/06/2009 22:07

Is it too late to join? We're just starting to think about TTC #2 (DS is 2 soon) butI'm trying to get my ridiculous cycles in some sort of order first! Am quite excited because the last 2 have been 34 days and 36 days (that's super short for me!)

I'm not on the pill or anything so the biggest sacrifice I'm going to be making is my beloved wine (and having to sleep with DH!!)

xx

claireinthecommunity · 23/06/2009 07:55

Morning all.

I've joined a first time TTC thread, I'll pop back though to catch up on what's happening here and to let you know how things are going with me.

Good luck to you all

Medee · 24/06/2009 08:42

I might track you down there in a week or two, Claire. Best of luck!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 26/06/2009 22:05

Hi, can I join your thread please?

Difficult one here, I'd planned to start TTC at the end of this year so next baby is born when my ds has started preschool, giving me the chance to have some time alone with the baby during the week.

But I'm suddenly reeeeaaally broody, everywhere I go everyone's pregnant or has tiny babies! it's really got me down (although obviously I realise lots of people have been trying for years and don't even have one child so I know I'm lucky)

Plus I'm really overweight and I could do with losing as much weight as possible before I start. I'm not very good at keeping up diets, so it feels like I'm never going to be able to start TTC. I feel so shit about it. Just wanted to talk about it here because no-one in real life understands. Just lose some weight, they say. You have another 20 years to have another baby.

But I want need one now!!!!

MrsPigeon · 27/06/2009 07:56

welcome decafgirl and JamesAndTheGiantBanana! Nice to have more people on here.

James, I agree it's really hard to plan exactly when to do things - especially when you are feeling so broody - it's a shame no-one understands, is your dh sympathetic?

Good luck on the ttc thread claire! Hobnob, how's it going being off the pill? I feel no different, so disappointing! (Not sure what I was expecting...)

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 27/06/2009 13:33

Thanks MrsPigeon dp isn't in any rush to have another yet (ds was totally unexpected) he'd be happy to leave it a few more years but I think it's important for ds to have a sibling close in age, and as I said, he'll be a minimum of 3 years old when we have the next one, so not a tiny gap really!

This morning dp found my personal calender with my approximate fertile days (next week) recorded on it, and was like

I've just been keeping track of my cycles the last three months because I thought they were irregular, (turns out they're just really long: 37 days) I wasn't planning on us ttc this month, but he's bound not to see it that way! He's been watching too much Eastenders! (Poor Ronnie Mitchell stabbing condoms with pins lol)

Hobnob76 · 27/06/2009 21:20

Claire Best of luck in TTC, hope to join you in there in a few months.

Welcome decafgirl and JamesAndTheGiantBanana! MrsPigeon* It doesn't feel any different to me either, not sure how I expected to feel, but it's only been 2 weeks. Had I not come off I'd have started my new packet of pills on Monday, all day long I had this nagging feeling that I'd forgotten to take it before I remembered that I was in fact not needing to take it! Its been quite strange not having to take it as soon as I wake up in a morning!

OP posts:
Medee · 28/06/2009 13:04

I should have started the next packet yesterday. Don't feel any different yet, but trying to re-tune into my body.

Hobnob76 · 02/07/2009 21:12

Hey, how is everyone ?

Well I've had why I think are OV pains, along with loads of ewcm, so maybe, just maybe my periods might go back to normal!

Kaylo · 03/07/2009 08:46

Hi everyone - can I rejoin please?

We are due to start TTC #3 in September and am counting down the days weeks until can finally start at it like rabbits

I've been trying to monitor my cycle cos tbh I've never paid any attention to it, it arrives when it arrives basically, there was never a chance of pregnancy so I just left mother nature to her work.

I have a daughter age 4 and a son who is 3 today bless him - where do the years go?

xxxx

Medee · 03/07/2009 16:03

good news, Hobnob. Nothing to note here, other than that my face seems to have broken out, which isn't great news!

Welcome, Kaylo!
