Please.

We're hoping to start trying soon and I'm finding the entire thing quite daunting. Trying to work out when I'm ovulating is proving to be altogether confusing.

Can I ask (those experts on here!) if I have a 33 day cycle, if I am due to have my first period 5th March and have a 33 day cycle: when is it most likely/easy for me to get pregnant?

Sorry if this is a stupid question I should know, but it's my first time and each prediction site I have been on gives me a complete different answer and I don't know what luteal phase means?!

The best idea (and I was given this advice by a doctor in a fertility clinic) is to have sex 2-3 times a week minimum and don't worry about when you are ovulating. If you space your 2-3 times a week fairly evenly, there will always be sperm there to meet the egg when it is released.

However, you are most likely to ovulate between 12-16 days before your period arrives. This is your luteal phase.

Everyone ovulates at different times and it is not a science at all in my opinion. Apparently one tip is to have sex before you fall asleep and don't get up so the sperm have more opportunity to get up into the fallopian tubes.

Hi Elainee,

Im realy sorry but nobody can realy tell you when you will. It all depends on you Luteal Phase ( this means the time from when you ovulate until your period arrives) some women will only have 10 days after Ovulation before Af arrives if you are one of these then you would Ov about CD23 or you may have a longer LP in which case you would Ov earlier.

The best way to tell is a combination of Temping and checking your CM. When you are fertile your CM is like Egg white very white and stretchy (sorry TMI) the day after Ov your temp will rise and then it will dip just before your Af is due, if you do fall Pg then the temp will stay high, 18 consectutive high temps mean you are pg.

I realy hope this helps, if it all seems to much then the other way is OPKS ( Ovulation Predictor Kits) although sometimes they arent very reliable.

sorry i couldnt tell you what you wanted to know. if it were as easy as that we would all be PG first month !!!!!

Thank you so much for your advice, it's really helpful. We'll just have to have lots of sex - oh well haha

I used the ovulation kits with both of my dc's because I wanted to be more sure of when I was ovulating. I fell pregnant with ds on the third month of trying and with dd on the second month, so was very lucky. Also, after we'd done the deed, I laid flat on my back with my legs raised (not attractive at all but quite a laugh ) so we didn't lose anything iyswim Good luck and hope you're pregnant soon
