Question about (lack of) EWCM when periods just returned after breastfeeding

Hi there! My periods have finally returned after a year of BF. I had to stop BF for them to return (as I want to TTC) and it has taken about eight weeks to get my first period. I've now had two periods but no sign at all of EWCM. I was just wondering, is it likely that it will take a few cycles for this to return? And if it's not there does it mean that I'm definitely not ovulating? It was amazingly obvious when I conceived my DD and I was hoping to use it as a reliable guide this time! Does anyone have experience of this following BF? Really sorry if this question has been asked before. And thanks!

Extremely common. Your hormones are still all up in the air and will take a while to settle. Doesn't necessarily mean you're not ovulating but it's possible and normal that you might not be.

When mine returned my luteal phase was only days long so although my periods returned, it actually took about 6 months for me to have a normal, fertile cycle.

Thanks ShowofHands, that's really interesting, particularly because I'm getting in a tis about whether to wait to TTC for job related reasons and it looks like I may not be fertile anyway. Maybe I'll start charting as well to get an idea of what's going on.
