Hi all,

AF arrived on Sunday so now if we are successful this cycle and it's as long as this last one baby would be due early December 2009. Anyone else?

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 26/03/2009 09:22

Bye ladies - it's been emotional. See some of you (but not too many!) on the January 2010 bus.

georgimama · 26/03/2009 09:42

MrsJM - did AF get you or was it just the BFN causing you to jump off?

Because a BFN can be wrong....

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 26/03/2009 09:46

I did three ebay cheapie ones. As though if I did another one, it'd come up positive.

georgimama · 26/03/2009 09:51

It's still a bit early though if AF hasn't got you. Just wait until the weekend and use a decent one first thing in the morning.

We don't need to jump on that January bus quite yet.

Baggsie back seat though!

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 26/03/2009 09:53

I bought the 10 miu ones - surely that would show up a BFP if I was pg, and AF was due this weekend. I am not doing this again. The site of those neg tests was actually worse I think than AF just arriving.

georgimama · 26/03/2009 10:10

I know. It is a real fucker, it really is. Went through 18 months of it before getting pg with DS. Every month I would test, every month negative. Every month I cried. So pointless and silly.

My problem seems to be that when TTC my mind has total control over my body. I can make myself late just by thinking about babies, and then as soon as I do a test (wasting a fiver in the process which makes me really ) AF starts the next day.

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 26/03/2009 10:13

I wasn't like this with dd, at all. I never used OPKs, or bought tests on ebay, or any of that crap stuff. I did a test when I was late. I don't know why I am consciously allowing myself to become obsessed. It only took two months for me to conceive dd though, 18 months must have been almost unbearable.

Bettymum · 26/03/2009 10:27

Hi MrsJoe,
Sorry to jump in without reading all the posts, but have you been temping? You can kind of begin to guess towards the end of your cycle if it's looking good or not, if your temperature is drifting back down or staying up, then it's not such a sudden yay or nay when you take a test, you kind of already have an inkling IYSWIM.
It took us 6 months to conceive our DD and I was a bit of a woman obsessed, I'm a bit more relaxed this time so far. However, DH is adamant he's getting the snip at 40 whether or not we have another DC. He is 39 in July...

georgimama · 26/03/2009 10:30

I was becoming a bit of a head case it is true.

I now know I have PCOS so it is different this time - I have a timescale for everything - I'm a lot calmer about it. I'm on Metformin and that gets 6 months to do its thing. If that doesn't work I'll go back to docs for bloods and 6 months Clomid. If that doesn't work, we will have to bite the bullet and go for IVF.

4thtimelucky · 26/03/2009 10:33

LISHY! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

I hardly dare fess up how many tests I have done this week (well they come in packs of 2 and I have the restraint of a... mmmm....can't think, am just bloody weak willed) and all have been negative. Maybe it's too early or maybe I am bonkers, hardly ate anything at all yesterday so coffee this morning actually tastes like coffee so am assuming AF round the corner

Shame I can't present DP with a BFP to try and make him smile now FIL is in hospital and not very well at all - he didn't get back til midnight and will be down there again later today, with the ever stoic MIL who really needs some good news too.

Bettymum · 26/03/2009 10:36

Georigmama,
Have you tried access diagnostics for pregnancy tests? They're closer to a pound each which might save you some money. They also do the OPK tests and all kinds of other things, they're very good in my experience.

georgimama · 26/03/2009 10:39

No, I haven't.

Thanks for that - I have been trying to resist bulk buying and therefore obsessively testing just because I have them in the cupboard, but as I am most likely in this for the long haul I might as well save some money!

4thtimelucky · 26/03/2009 10:39

Georgimama - one of my best friends has PCOS and was trying pretty much ever since her wedding 5 years ago, she tried acupunture and swore by it. She did also have some drugs but I don't know what they were but - here's the happy ending - she found out she was expecting while they were on the IVF waiting list so it is possible.

4thtimelucky · 26/03/2009 10:44

Sorry to be a gasbag this morning but did just occur to me (yes I am THAT thick!) that maybe my cycle is screwed up now my IUD is out (unexpectedly expelled but DP and I thought sod it!) - it was a copper one not the mirena one so no hormones and the clinic said it shouldn't affect anything at all - does anyone have any experience of TTC after the coil?

georgimama · 26/03/2009 10:49

Yes I've hard acupuncture can be beneficial. Last time the Metformin worked within 3 months of starting taking it so I am hopeful - but as I said if it doesn't work (bearing in mind I am 3 years older now than I was then) at least we have a game plan!

I think cycles can take some time to settle down after coil removal - I've never used one so can't advise sorry.

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 26/03/2009 10:58

Thanks for the love, ladies. Bettymum - I think temping may push me over the edge! I need to relax about it all.

4thtimelucky - when is AF due?

Georgimama - you're a very calming influence on me.

4thtimelucky · 26/03/2009 11:17

MrsJM - think it might actually have been yesterday - this year has been Jan 2nd then Jan 30th and then Feb 26th. Could have sworn had last years on my phone calendar but can't find them now. So the last 3 cycles have been 28 days, 27 days and now 29 days. Oops, think I might have been testing far too bloody early, silly cow is me!

Bettymum · 26/03/2009 11:18

Sorry MrsJoe!
Sending you lots of relaxing vibes.

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 26/03/2009 11:21

Bettymum - give me a couple of weeks and I'll be temping with the best of them.
