Hi all,

AF arrived on Sunday so now if we are successful this cycle and it's as long as this last one baby would be due early December 2009. Anyone else?

4th time lucky - you're right, I am a skiier. I've had 4 weeks away skiing this season - we've been trying since November and I honestly thought I'd be in the early stages for my hols this year... not to be! As for making plans... my ski gang want to do Aspen next Feb/March and you can bet your a*se that I'll be giving birth that week!

Horse - well I have a horse too.

I'm CD16 right now and have been spotting today. I NEVER spot mid-cycle (in 23 years!) - any ideas anyone?

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 25/03/2009 16:39

I want to say implantation bleed.

4thtimelucky · 25/03/2009 16:56

Skihorse - 4 weeks skiing! Right, might never have to speak to you again only managed 10 days this year (well 9 and a half if you count the enforced half day rest after canning it down too many runs in a whiteout the previous day!!). Likewise, our mob want to return to Canada next year (we did France this year) in March....although someone just sent me details of a possible deal for the last weekend of this season...

Sorry, can't help with the spotting. Jeez - given that I started when I was 10 and apart from breaks when the evil ex forced to terminate 3 times in my early 20's I've had nigh on 25 years of AF, quarter of a bloody (ha! no pun intended!!)century. And to think I was feeling a bit more upbeat this afternoon!

fatandiknowit · 25/03/2009 16:56

How are you all doing today ladies?

Hoep you are all feeling OK and those waiting to test/testing aren't too stressed out

thesoo · 25/03/2009 17:35

I am back too and being positive like Blocka. Think it is possible to have a December 31st Baby this cycle!

Tigerbear · 25/03/2009 17:56

Hello all,
I am new to MN, and not a Mum yet!
Does that make me weird?
How do I join this list? I too am hoping to have a baby this December, however no idea how long it will take for it to happen. As someone else mentioned on here, as a hopeful first timer, it feels odd that you spend so much time trying NOT to get pregnant, then as soon as you start having unprotected sex it feels strange not to get pregnant on the first few tries! Out of interest, how long did it take everyone else to get pregnant with their first?
Thanks!

Lishylooloo · 25/03/2009 17:58

I don't feel as pregnant today. Am not bloated at all and nothing really going on down there. I got those weird pains for a couple of days. Could that be implantation? No AF either. I might just have to test first thing in the morning. It is day 39 tomorrow after all! God, if I'm not pg I'll be so bummed, who knows how long I'll have to wait before I can try again. It's all my own fault. I said I'd stop BF when DD was 6 months old but she is almost a year now and I only stopped a couple of months ago and have had one AF since.

Am so jealous of the skiiers. I think I thought I might be pregnant by now too and so didn't bother making plans - so much for taking my own advice. If I had planned to go skiing of course I'd be pregnant now!

Lishylooloo · 25/03/2009 18:43

Hi Tigerbear and welcome!

I got pg first time I tried but then I mc'd . Then I waited for 1 AF and got pg again first time trying and now have a lovely DD. I think I heard that it takes on average most couples about 6 months. It really can vary.

Blocka · 25/03/2009 18:43

Hello tigerbear, no, you are not weird for being a first timer - we all are/were at some point!

To get on the December bus, you have to be due in December. Everyone puts on the list the baby number they are trying to conceive (ttc#1), the number of cycles they have been tryng for (in your case cycle 1), their usual cycle length (i.e. 28) and thw day of their cycle they are on now, so we can all count down with you and celebrate when your AF doesn't arrive(Aunty Flo...)

This acronym list will make your life much easier.....www.mumsnet.com/info/acronyms

Anyway, welcome aboard! You can cut and paste the whole list and add yourself on (the ones at the top are due soonest, if that makes sense!). If that is too technical, let us know your numbers and we will add you on!

nunnie · 25/03/2009 18:45

Tigerbear, to join the list, you just need to write which cycle you are on (how long you have been trying)
UCL (usual cycle length)
CD (what day of cycle you are on now).

It took me over 4 years to get pregnant with #1, I am now on my 19th month for #2.

Good luck and welcome aboard

Tillyscoutsmum · 25/03/2009 18:46

Hello Tigerbear - welcome

I believe the stats are something like only 10% will get pg on cycle 1 but 90% will be pg within 12 months (think its about 60% within 6 months). So the odds of getting it right first time are against us. Doesn't stop us all assuming we might though

Blocka · 25/03/2009 18:48

Oh, and tigerbear, in answer to your question about how long does it take, well how long is a piece of string. I was v lucky first time with dd and fell on first try. Very lucky second time and fell on first try again, but mc (while skiing in Jan - why does skiing feature so much in this list?!?). This is my 3rd try now and it feels like a lifetime, but I look on the list and it takes other much longer so can't complain.

Hobnobfanatic · 25/03/2009 19:10

Tigerbear I got pg the second month of trying with my first. We weren't even trying actively - just having unprotected sex when we fancied. I wasn't monitoring my cycle, checking my CM daily, weeing on ovulation sticks, taking my temperature daily or any of that nonsense! This time round, I'm slavishly doing all of the above and am VERY peed off that this is my fifth month of trying - and trying very hard.

Sigh.

But sharing it all with others who are similarly obsessed helps - it stops you being boring to those in RL who aren't interested in whether you've ovulated or not!

liahgen · 25/03/2009 20:31

Hi all,

I haven't been posting recently, been reading though.

Sorry you ladies who got af, Lisshy, how on earth do you resist? OMG, i'd be going mad now.

Welcome Tiger, took me 9 yrs to get my first, after that, mc when dd1 was 11 mths, (was 11wks, so got pg when she was 8 mths),
1st mth trying for ds1, 2nd for ds2, mc after this when ds2 was 10 mths, dd1 conceived in wake of mc, dd3 2nd mth trying. Mc Last xmas in 2nd mth trying.

This is my 1st mth back on the bus, (issues) and have been symptom spotting this time, don't normally do that, it can totally drive you mad.

Getting heartburn regularly since weekend, I'm sure it's too too early and weeing but not producing very much since today. I could test as early as Monday but am very determined to try and be good and wait till week on friday.

God why do the days go so slowly?

Good luck to all waiting to test.

Regards to making plans, we've just booked holiday for 28th June, so that not problem, got wedding in October so am holding off buying an outfit in the sales, as am hoping it won't fit by then,

anniecam38 · 25/03/2009 21:06

Evening all, just took me ages to catch up on todays news. Im in the same boat as a few others on here, i dont feel positive at all, woke up this morning with AF like cramps, was concinced it was going to show up today, been at work all day but being rushing to the loo every opportunity to check if AF had arrived. AF pains have disappeared now so not sure what is going on? I dont feel pregnant, ive been pregnant four times (unfortunately 3 ended in mc)so i know my body by now.
Was having a moan to DH tonight while we were cooking tea, saying i was so upset as all i want is to be pregnant, and he just made the right noises 'i know you do darling' etc etc then really annoyed me by saying 'no rush is there?' He nearly bloody well ended up wearing his tea
Hope we get some more BFP,s on here soon.

4thtimelucky · 25/03/2009 21:47

Yay, everyone seems so much happier this evening and welcome to Tigerbear! Oooh and hows your second day knowing the BFP been FAIKI? Or have I lost a day somewhere and now it's 3 days!?

DP back from his course today but not good as FIL taken into hospital so he's down there now whilst I am tucked up in bed. Family memorial thingy today was "OK" so don't feel so bad I missed it - am I wrong in saying that helping someone day to day is possibly as important as acknowledging anniversary's?

Still feeling sick as the proverbial dog and as well as crossing coffee, tea, food and white wine off the taste list, did make DP smile when told him rioja was also tasting like kak (works drink - managed 1 glass in about 2 hours, I have a past reputation as a bit of a guzzler at works do's so just got away with that!). I mean - rioja, is bloody lovely! What kind of sadistic "illness" is this nausea to put me off coffee and rioja?!!!

4thtimelucky · 25/03/2009 21:50

oh crap, not quite everyone. anniecam - thinking of you, I am sure we bumped into each other on the step away thread. Here's for some positive testing, maybe at the wekeend?

Tigerbear · 25/03/2009 22:48

Hello everyone,
Thanks for all of the messages.
Gosh, I feel a bit intimidated now - I guess naively I just thought it would happen after a few 'tries'!! From all of your messages, I now realise it may not be as easy as I thought!
No idea how to work out which cycle, etc. FYI, I am on my period now, about the 4th day (however mine are a bit odd - does anyone else have this too - I sort of start quite lightly for about 4 days, then have a 'proper' one of about 4 or 5 days). I suppose no-one knows what is 'normal' but is this the same for others, or do you just have about 4 or 5 days of it? Sorry if that doesn't make sense or is a bit rambling!

I suppose it will be a bit of a miracle if I'm in the December club won't it?

gingerwine · 25/03/2009 23:32

Hello ladies.
I am less grumpy today and have realised I could also be due 31st December ish if we manage to get pregnant this cycle so I will stick myself on the bottom of the list and go and find the January bus too!!
Sorry you had a negative sort of day anniecam. Men sometimes don't quite get it do they?? I hope you feel more positive soon.

A few more days of nice wine and soft cheese etc.. and then we will be back to the bd ing every other day or so. DH will be happy.

I got AF today so am going to join the january board. Still getting the hang of charting and taking temperatures etc, and know the timing wasn't right this month.
Good luck everyone!

Lishylooloo · 26/03/2009 06:28

Good morning! I just caved in, did a test and got a BFP!!!!!!

RipMacWinkle · 26/03/2009 06:31

georgimama · 26/03/2009 06:54

Lishy, congrats!!!

Holding out until day 40 is restraint indeed - I held out until about day 36 when I was pg with DS. Will try to wait until Sunday at the earliest.

liahgen · 26/03/2009 07:05

Hey Lishy,

Huge congratulations. Wishing you a very healthy and problem free 9 mths. x
