How do you deal with waiting to TTC?

DH and i have decided to go for number 3, but i have to wait until March next year! I don't think i can.

DH has a 6 month Iraq deployment (possibly)in August - March, he doesnt want to start now incase i get pregnant and hes not around to help or be at the birth. Makes sense.

I don't want to wait. I want to start tonight (am ovulating or about to), it could take months and months to get pregnant and if i got pregnant in July(ish) he'd be home in time!

So how do those waiting to TTC manage?

Sorry, can't actually help, but your DH sounds very sensible and caring, so at least you can be thankful that he's not doing the opposite (ie going along with your wish to get pregnant when he can escape to Iraq to get away from any mood swings )

I think your DH is looking after you nicely in advance already! You could use the itme to save, get healthy/ier, take folic acid, etc. Or, give yourself the time limit that he would be here for the birth (the next 2 months or something?) then stop, and start agin in March next year iyswim

We had to wait a few months before starting to ttc for a variety of reasons. I used (and still do) fertilityfriend.com and learnt a lot about my cycle patterns etc. which came in really handy for when we tried as I knew exactly when the best time etc. was.

Added bonus is that you get to obsess about it on there and feel like you're doing something about it.

It does make more sense to wait - imagine how awful you'd feel if you fell pg now and then he was away for the birth....

How about starting later on in the year - so before he goes to Iraq, but not early enough that he would miss the birth? FWIW ds2 took ages (15 months I think) to conceive so I was in a massive hurry to ttc nr3. Then I fell pg the first month of trying (as had done with ds1) and now I'm stressing that ds2 is still really young and he'll have competition for attention. You just never know which way the penny's going to fall.
