TTC after a Caesarian Section

Hi Girls!

I had a CS with DD1 in June 2006, we are now actually just tempting fate as opposed to 'trying' to avoid disappointment etc since Nov 08. Have had three cycles since first natural period after coming off the pill. Last time with DD I conceived on 2nd natural cycle. I was convinced last month I was pregnant as I was 8 days late!! But then came on yesterday..

I was just wondering for the ladies out there who have had CS before how difficult it was to conceive again?

I know it is still early days for me, but was worried this may stop the pip sticking! I have had all the signs of ovulation and we have been 'making love' reasonably regularly but still no HPTpos.. Because of the false alarm last cycle was starting to worry I may have had an early MC... What experiences have you had with this? Is it possible that the CS could be effecting implantation?

Sorry to go on... xx

it didn@t affect me. I had a c-section with my dd and got pregnant with number 2 the first month of trying.

Thats good to know! Wow you must be super fertile!

AFAIK having a CS should not affect you. It took me 6 months to conceive DS1 who was born by emergency CS & 7 months to conceive DS2 who was born naturally.

15 mo after I had dd by emergency cs I had ds with a planned one, and he was conceived without even particularly trying.

It was fine. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

Congrats on the natural birth! I'm a bit nervous about the idea of VBAC... but really want to give it a go. I had an ECS with DD... it was horrendous and the recovery wasn't much better. I was in labour for two days and only made it to 5cm in the end!

I had a c-section with my DC in Jan 2007. DC was conceived after only 1 month! I started TTC in March last year and I'm still not pregnant.

I've had a couple of late AF's which may or may not have been something. However, I'm against early testing as I think it can raise false hopes.

As I'm almost 35 I spoke to my GP who says that having a c-section shouldn't make any difference when TTC again. She mentioned that after a pregnancy your hormones are thrown all over the place and whilst you may have conceived easily the first time there's no guarantee that it will happen the same way next time.

There was a similar thread on here a while ago and most women who had c-sections had no problems TTC a second child. So good luck to you and try not to worry as 3 cycles isn't that many.

You don't mention your age. However, if you're 35 or over and have been TTC for six months or more with no luck I would go and visit your GP.

Thanks.. Just getting preconception anxiety I think. Bit of a cheek considering I have only been on the 'tempting fate' bus for 4 months! LOL! So great to hear you have all been so sucessful! x

Or should I say SUCCESSFUL! LOL! I'm 26 so not worried yet about my fertility so to speak. Glad to here that CS doesn't necessarily mean TTC is more difficult. Will just keep going and see what happens, will try not to build my hopes up too much.

Had C section with ds1. Took 6 months to conceive dd1. Then 2.5 years later, when not trying got preggers with again. 10 weeks pg now! I am 36.
