AF late, short luteal phase, BFN - come and give me hope!!

OK, I know nobody can really answer me, but I am just looking for straws to clutch at!! I have a short luteal phase of around 8 days (since I have been charting, now on 7th month). I am currently 11DPO (CD31 on a normally 28 day cycle) and temperatures still high. Had a sharp one-day drop at 6DPO. The thing is, I have been testing every day since 8DPO as I 'invested' in a big pack of 'ultra-sensitive 10miu tests' (bought online). From what I have read, if I were pg, I would definitely have at least 10miu in my urine by 11DPO so I guess realistically I should give up. It's just I have never had a luteal phase this long (!), or temps this high at this point, and I know we timed BD-ing perfectly this month. My 'symptoms' are just that my usual pre-AF sore bbs didn't arrive until a couple of days ago whereas they normally greet me just after ovulation. I also have excess saliva which I know is not always a symptom, and I have felt slightly nauseous but nothing really. I am just wondering if anyone has had a false negative with a 10miu test, or taken longer to get HCG levels up... I know, I know - I am clutching at straws!! But I can't help it!! Thanks in advance.

i hope that you get a positive! all the symptoms sound right to me.. just keep on testing until af shows. good luck!!

You could still be testing too early

Thanks ladies... I guess it's not over until AF arrives... I just think I should have had a BFP at 11DPO if the tests are as accurate as they claim

it depends when you get implantation though
I only had a very faint line on a 10 miu at 17 dpo with my last pg

katster37 · 12/02/2009 15:43

EldonAve that is encouraging! I suppose I am thinking that since on my chart it looks like I had an implantation dip at 6DPO I really should be able to tell by now. But I guess everyone's different. Hmm. We will see!

BFN again today, still no sign of AF... CD32 now, normally 27 - 28 days. What is going on?! At least I am up to a 12 day luteal phase, which I have never had... Anyone else had recurrent BFNs when technically they should be positive, and gone on to be pg?! Please help!!

bumping for you

bringonthetrumpets · 13/02/2009 10:04

i remember reading that a late period could be from late ovulation and not a late luteal phase. might just be that you ovulated later, later implantation and it can't be detected yet. sending hugs over. hope you find out soon!

punchy · 13/02/2009 10:07

Katster I have written a post to you before as I also have a short luteal phase of around 8 days. I also had a similar situation to you last month. As soon as you get past 8 DPO with no period you start wondering but most people wouldn't even be thinking about testing yet?! I was testing every day on those sensitive tests and didn't get a positive until 13DPO and even then it was very faint. Unfortunately 2 days later I had a big bleed so it obviously wasn't meant to be. Anyway, shows it's possible to get pregnant with a short luteal phase so I hope you get your positive soon. I know how you're feeling though as every day that went on I was getting more agitated and you just want to know one way or the other. Try to stay busy and if you can stay away from the tests for a couple of days!

cupcakeandtea · 13/02/2009 16:00

All I can say is I tested solidly for 14 days after ov and got nothing but negatives and one afternoon I was a bit bored and did the last test in the pack not expecting to see anything and I'm now 29 weeks pregnant!
Good luck!

lastboxoftampons · 13/02/2009 17:29

Some women never get positives on their tests. Fingers crossed for you!

katster37 · 13/02/2009 17:39

Thanks everyone. punchy I am sorry to hear you about what happened to you last month. I hope you're OK.
I really don't get what's going on - have never had a cycle like this. Had really really strong AF cramps all afternoon, and literally (TMI coming up...) gloops of CM in knickers... you could actually see 'chunks' of it in my wee! (ok I did warn you...!) I have never had this, it makes me wonder if I have got an infection or something, but looks normal and doesn't smell infected... OK, we will see.... Temp still up... I had better not get AF on Valentine's day!! Thanks for all your posts x

Oooh Katster - I've just found your thread and have laughed my socks off at your CM description! It sounds even worse than mine. Everything is crossed for you.

katster37 · 14/02/2009 09:28

Ha glad it amused you daisy!!! Well, still no AF, had cramps all day yesterday so fully expecting AF. In fact am almost hoping for it, 'cos I have managed to convince myself it is something horrid and dangerous that is making me have this random cycle....
Hope you are OK and having a nice Valentine's Day!

Have you still got the BFNs? I am testing tomorrow and so far, no AF, no symptoms except for being really, really tired!

We've had a top valentine's day (although I doubt everyone will agree) and have just come back from a poultry auction with six new hens! Hurrah for an over-excited speedy bidding husband.

Hope you're having a lovely day too.

daisydotandgertie · 15/02/2009 09:30

I just don't get it! Another BFN this morning despite no AF and an unheard of 41 day cycle.

Any ideas why? I am bemused and quite a lot disappointed.

katster37 · 19/02/2009 09:24

Hi daisy any news?? Well, I finally got a BFP but then had terrible cramps and am on day 5 of heavy bleeding . I hope you're having better luck! Although I have read that you are more fertile the month after, so am just going to try lots this month. Hope you are OK?
