Hello, I'm also a newbie (this is my first post even though I've been lurking for quite some time) and I'm also hoping to start TTC later this year.

MY ADVICE IS DON'T WAIT.....! Life's too short!

broodydoody · 08/02/2009 14:41

I am desperate to start but I am bridesmaid for my friend in April! My bridesmaid was 8 months pregnant at my wedding and I didn't mind at all but don't think my other friend would be as laid back as I was!! I might eek if forward to the end of March though!! (grin)

We waited till after our birthdays last June to ttc, but then it took 7 months!! Really hope it all goes to plan

MummyElk · 11/02/2009 11:11

8 months is completely different from 8 weeks! Agree with FlorenceB - go for it! (and good luck!!)

FlorenceB · 13/02/2009 12:27

I don't want to sound miserable but a) you don't know how long it will take you and b)you don't know how much heart ache and set backs it can bring... It took me 2 cycles to concieve my first and then I misscarried at 12 weeks.. I have been trying again for the last 2 cycles and nothing's happening!!

VeryAnnieMary · 13/02/2009 12:55

Hello! I'm on month two of "seeing what happens" (still a bit funny admitting I'm ttc) - I put it off till after friend's wedding but for different reasons - well, the same principal reason, but internally it was because I'm a bit scared and apprehensive.

Only you can decide when you start and why you are waiting of course. But you could start ovulation-symptom spotting so that you are good to go in March/April? I just let one month go by after coming off pill and forgot to really look for ewcm etc - going to have to pay more attention this month.

totalmisfit · 13/02/2009 19:10

again, don't want to rain on your parade but start now unless you have a massive reason not to. DH and i put off and put off ttc #2 and finally started 6 weeks ago. Now i'm wondering why we waited.

What you don't realise beforehand is how the months drag and you wait and wait for ovulation then shag like mad then wait and wait to test. God this sounds really negative. Don't listen to me, AF arrived today so mine is hardly a balanced view.

Good luck and much babydust.

Hi guys, thanks for all the good lucks etc. I spoke to my friend that I am bridesmaid for yesterday and we got on to the subject of babies and she suddenly thought I was pregnant and got really excited. I brought her down to earth and said I wasn't but that we were going to start trying after the wedding. She said don't let that stop you just go for it!

So I think I am going to spend this month getting to know my cycle and then we'll start trying in March. Only a month sooner but is still a whole month sooner!!!

Will keep you posted!
