Are any celebs doing it naturally?

At (just) 35 I've been TTC DC two for almost 12 months. I often look at celebrities in papers/magazines and I'm reassured when they become pregnant at age 38 plus. Am I a fool to believe that any of these women are conceiving naturally?

I suppose I just want reassurance that it can happen without intervention!

Don't know about celebs but don't give up hope - I had all 4 of my DCs at age 35+ and DC4 at 43, all without intervention. Good luck.

I conceived DC1 at 35, my sister conceived DC3 at 38, close friend conceived DC2 at 36, other close friend conceived DC4 (!) at 37, another friend both her sons at 36+, yet another friend both daughters at 37+ - all naturally (with a little help from OPKs and the like) - and the list could go on. Could take a little longer than when you're 25 or 30 (took me nearly 12 months) but keep faith! Especially as you know you're fertile. Good luck!

I conceived my first at 38, had her at 39. No problems or intervention whatsoever. It took me 8 months (or 1 month from when I actually stopped smoking)

Sian williams from BBC breakfast is having a baby at 44, not sure how long she was ttc though.

I'm always a bit about slebs conceiving naturally esp with the preponderance for twins... but I'm a cynic. I'm sure quite a few slebs don't actually carry their own babies either, but get a surrogate to do it so they don't ruin their bodies, or was that a plot line on that programme Dirrt with Courtney Cox? Sometimes the line between reality and Hollywood blur a bit

My mum's best friend had her first at 41, then DC2 3 years later.

brettgirl2 · 06/02/2009 18:03

Is Sian Williams only 44 - me and DH were literally about her pg. I thought she was about 50!

I think that yes, in general they are doing it naturally but you just don't hear about the ones that are having probs very often (just like in RL)

HeadFairy · 06/02/2009 18:36

It's all those early mornings, they're terribly ageing!

Courtney Cox had to have IVF to have her dd, and I read somewhere they want to try again but are worried they've left it too late as she's over 40 now.

Didn't Julia Roberts have IVF for her twins? I always assume non ident twins are IVF, esp when the woman is a demanding Hollywood star, impatient to get pg and over the age of 35.

brettgirl2 · 06/02/2009 19:35

You're probably right - the thing is that all those hollywood types are so thin it would probably be a medical miracle if they conceived naturally at any age. It's like posh spice she is apparently having problems and popping herbal pills. I think a juicy steak would be far more likely to do the trick.

I'd never really thought about it before to be honest.

ramonaquimby · 06/02/2009 19:44

lots of slebs have been having twins, I can't believe they have all been naturally conceived (not that it matters)

Julia Roberts
Marcia Cross
Jennifer Lopez

fifitot · 06/02/2009 21:12

Holly Hunter was 45 when she had a baby - or could have been twins.

Jacqueline Gold is 48 - must be a donor.

kitstwins · 10/02/2009 15:25

Julia Robert's twins were IVF but she then went on to conceive a little boy naturally after her twin pregnancy. Marcia Cross's babies were IVF.

J-Lo says her twins weren't from IVF but it would appear that no one believes the diva-ish one and the speculations abound. Either way, she tried for a while to get pregnant and now drapes herself in gold marchesa gowns in celebration of her uber-fertileness....

I'm astonished that I know so much about the reproductive high jinks of celebrity bods. Can I blame a personal interest in twins for my sad, stalker-ish behaviour.

expatinscotland · 10/02/2009 15:31

Holly Hunter was 47.

My gran had a baby at 47, conceived naturally, but he wasn't her 1st. He was her sixth and not planned.

fifitot · 10/02/2009 15:35

47? Hope for me yet then!
