Anyone had 3 C-Sections

Hi,
WE are about to start tryng for number 3 but I had 2 CS before and was wondering if anyone out there has had 3 CS, and if so what was the state of their tummy afterwards. I am almost sure I would not be advised to go for a natural delivery.

Hi! I've had 4 c-sections and have had no problems with my tummy! Although I would say to get as much muscle tone as you can back between pregnancies as it really helps recovery.
I felt that my 4th recovery was a bit longer (I'm the type of person who is up and about ASAP! Demanded the catheter out etc!) but the scar now isn't visible and yes I have a tummy but nothing some excercise can't sort out!
Have heard of some ladies on MN who have had VBA2CS so maybe that actually could be an option....good luck x

I've had 3 c sections and my tummy seems fine....though I never had a wash board physique to start with

Like Mrs D I found it harder with the last than the third and I had a problem with adhesion of my bladder to previous scar tissue, but that is all in the dim and distant past as DS3 is 2.9yo now.

last than the first that should read.

i have had 4, plus another operation (sterilisation reversal) in the same place. i have a bit of a tummy, i did get loads of stretch marks so my tummy will never be flat anyway. if you are allowed a natural delivery depends on why you had the c sections in the first place ( i have a small pelvis)and also how long ago it was. i was told when i got pregnant the 4th time that i "shouldnt really keep the baby" because 4 c sections are dangerous, i didnt listen and it was fine, although they did scare me into being sterilised.....big mistake for me, i was only 26 at the time, im 38 now. ive since been told a women can have as many c sections as she is capable of handling.

Same as bf. No stretchmarks, superflat tummy - ask your gp before you start trying - I did, and he checked the scar etc to reassure me.

I wish they didn't use scare tactics for decision making.....my consultant was brilliant and when I felt scared after dd4's birth and asked about sterilisation (I was 27) he said no and to wait as I may change my mind and that as I was fit and healed well he 'would have no problem to support me through another pregnancy'....
I feel for you bitchfanny, as you must feel that the decision was taken out of your hands....x

I had 3. My tummy is fine, so is scar and no stretch marks. I was told I had to have a 3rd section when I went into labour with DD2 as there was too much risk to my uterus tearing etc. I was pleading to have a natural birth. During the op the consultant told me my uterus was in such great shape I could have at least another 10 babies/c-sections if I wanted to. One of those hindsight situations but my point is most women are probably capable of having several c/sections. It would be nice if there was a way of finding out before you give birth though.

yes mrsdisorganised it was taken out of my hands, i felt so naive. i am with a new partner, have been for 9yrs, we had to go private to have it reversed, but i have been pregnant twice since september, sadly both have ended in mc, but it was a miracle... is a miracle that i have got pregnant anyway.

bitchyfanny · 06/02/2009 12:06

ps. and i have only 1 tube working

mrsdisorganised · 06/02/2009 12:08

Are you still ttc....if so I will send positive thoughts your way! x

bitchyfanny · 06/02/2009 13:36

yes we are still ttc, thought i wouldnt be able to carry on after 2nd mc but as soon as i came round from my erpc, i told dh very positively i wouldnt give up that easily!! i have been referred to a consultant, think it might be the recurrent miscarriage clinic, gp sent me now because im 39 in march, i had my reversal done in sept 2006, didnt fall pregnant for the 1st 18 months, had hsg and bfp month later. thank you for your positive thoughts, ill add them together with mine

With my second pregnancy I really wanted a VB but my consultant (and husband, who was afraid of the gore of a VB) convinced me to go for CS when 1 week overdue. I wish I'd stuck to my guns more and held out another week. If we do get pregnant again I will try and speak up a bit more. My first CS was an emergency as DD in distress but there was no evidence that my second would be the same. I think DRs in the main prefer to do the CS.

Riven, I also think my wobbly tummy is actually due to lack of toning on my part .
