Help! I have no idea what's going on.....

I'm new here and new to pregnancy and so I'm hoping that someone might be able to help me out....

My AF is a week late and I am normally a regular 28 day kinda girl..along with that I've been experiencing pregnancy symptoms, swollen, sore breasts and nipples, extreme tiredness, raised lumps around the nipples etc.. none of which I normally experience with AF. I have got 3 -ve HPT so far but I posted a message yesterday asking for advice on this and apparently this isn't unusual. So I have since got used to the idea that I probably am pregnant.

BUT, I have just been to the loo and have some brownish discharge, like I normally experience at the end of AF. Normally AF would be very heavy to start with. I know TMI, sorry! I have been reading on the net that implantation bleeding normally happens before AF is due but I'm now a week over.

Is it possible that this is implantation bleeding?

I'd be grateful for any advice or ideas as this is all very new to me and I'm worried that I'm now not pregnant.

Thanks so much.

That sounds very much like normal bleeding in early pregnancy, it can be implantation or just that your hormone levels are not yet high enough to stop the bleed. Don't fret, it won't affect the pregnancy if you are pregnant.

Your HCG levels will double in 48 so test again say on Friday morning and you should get a definitive result

cupcakegirl · 04/02/2009 14:41

Thanks for the reassurance, I'll keep my fingers crossed that the bleed doesn't increase and test on Friday morning as you suggest.

God, this is all so complicated and stressful!!!

Thank you

It is very stressful. I've had four pregnancies and two babies and it doesn't get any easier! But actually if you are already a week late you are through the worst bit. By six weeks your baby will have a heartbeat and the risk of miscarriage plummets and then you only have to wait for 12 weeks for the placenta to establish for it to drop even more.

Even if you aren't pregnant this time as well - don't despair. Before every successful pregnancy, the month before, I've had an early miscarriage. Your body does recover and try and reestablish a pregnancy if it does go wrong but the likelihood is you are pregnant, it will be fine and in nine months or so you'll be joining the serried ranks of tired mums!

Thank you, you are making me feel a lot better. I'm sat here at work on my own and am going to the loo every 5 mins and so your encouragement means a lot.

The funny thins is we weren't going to try until later in the year but now that pregnancy is a real possibility we're really happy, or at least will be when we know for sure..

Thanks again

Ah go to the supermarket and buy some cheapo tests (they work just as well) you may well find it's showing positive by now! Going to the loo every five minutes - yep funny now - you wait till 3am every night

Not trying is the best way to get pregnant I find. We entirely gave up trying before I conceived first time and were told there was no way for us to get pregnant....

see here for details

Wow, what a story. Thanks for sharing it with me, it puts into perspective whats going on now!

It does make me think that if it doesn't work out this time after not trying how will I feel if we do try.

You must be so strong to deal with those setbacks and not go completely crazy.

BTW, your little girl is beautiful!

Thanks - unfortunately she does know it too! She's a bit of a rascal!

Bettymum · 04/02/2009 16:45

That's a lovely story whomovedchocolate
My gorgeous nephew was conceived on the day that my brother and SIL were told they'd never have babies .
Good luck cupcakegirl x

cupcakegirl · 04/02/2009 20:35

Thanks Bettymum

I know I'm asking a lot of questions but there have been developments and so I'm now even more confused!

In the last few hours I have also had normal bleeding but not nearly as heavy as it would be and it's alongside the brownish discharge from before (really sorry about the TMI!) and I've also been getting achy cramps.

I don't think this is AF but also don't know whether this is just normal pregnancy bleeding.

So now I'm more confused! I know it's difficult to give advise based on snippets of info but I'd be grateful if someone could comment from previous experience??!!

Not sure it's normal if you are bleeding. Have you tested again? Maybe go and see the doc to get more information.

cupcakegirl · 04/02/2009 21:11

Hi fifitot

I haven't tested again, the last test was Monday eve, I was going to wait until Friday am as I have a doc's appt. for Friday afternoon.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'm going to have to see what happens and if it stops take another test.

How early can you have a early mc?

OP posts:
whomovedmychocolate · 04/02/2009 22:06

You can have an early miscarriage any time after implantation but generally around the five weeks mark - it's called a failed implantation to be technical. I had bleeding with DS - I didn't with DD. I assumed I had miscarried and went for a scan to make sure and obviously I hadn't.

Don't be too dismayed just yet, and just do a blooming test for goodness sake. No point worrying when you can find out!

cupcakegirl · 04/02/2009 22:46

You're right, you're right! I think I'm just scared too now but I'll see what happens over night and then get a test.

Thanks for your patience with me!

Believe me, I've been there. I was a complete basketcase throughout my pregnancy with DD. I drove to A&E at seven weeks pregnant convinced I'd miscarried because my back no longer hurt . Turned out I'd had a water infection which had cured itself .

It does get easier, with DS I'd pretty much resigned myself to having a crappy pregnancy

Antdamm · 06/02/2009 16:06

any update?

whomovedmychocolate · 06/02/2009 20:38

Yes, I just popped in to ask the same thing (we're awful for nagging round here aren't we?)

VeryAnnieMary · 10/02/2009 14:11

Come on cupcakegirl, tell us!

cupcakegirl · 24/03/2009 15:25

Hi there

Ok, so I have to apologise for going AWOL. Because I had further bleeding I just assumed I wasn't pregnant (either ever or not any more) although the bleeding wasn't as bad as a normal AF and didn't last as long. So, I couldn't face coming on here and talking about it anymore because I was upset.

However, at the beginning of this month, on what would have been 1 day late, if last month's episode was AF, I got a BFP! It came up straight away, no messing!

So, I'm still in some doubt as to whether I was pregnant last month or not and so I am waiting for a dating scam to find out exact weeks!!!!!

Thank you for all your concern and help, I really appreciate it.

AND SORRY FOR GOING AWOL!
