Pregnant? I'd love some advice!

Hi

I would love if someone could give me some advice. My period is now a week late which is highly unusual, I'm a regular 28 day girl with a couple of 27 or 29 day cycles every now and again. I also have other pregnancy symptoms, extreme tiredness, sore and swollen breasts and I have noticed the little bumps on my nipples are raised as well. I'm also feeling very bloated and just 'feel' pregnant.

BUT, I have had 3 -ve pregnancy tests! The last one being last night. I've made an appointment with the doctor but that's not until Friday.

Does it sound like I'm pregnant?

This is driving me nuts! We're weren't trying but were using the withdrawal method, however, we didn't make a very good job of it last month and I would have probably been ovulating. Now that there's a possibility of me being pregnant we are really happy but just want to know!!

Has anyone else had problems with -ve tests when you are pregnant?

Thank you

Hmm I have heard some people take a while for it to show up and get -ve tests for a while... I would say if you still have not period this is a good sign! Have you used the hyper-sensitive tests? Do you know how many days it is since you ovulated? I've heard it can take anything up to 4 weeks or even longer for some people! Good luck!

Thanks katster! I've not really used tests before as we weren't trying yet and for the same reason i haven't been paying any attention to when i'm ovulating but would guess it to be around the 14th January. I used Clearblue the first 2 times and last night I used a Superdrug own brand - are you able to tell me whether they are hyper-sensitive or not? Thanks

I think they are about 25miu. I bought some 10miu online, I don't think many of the shop bought ones detect this little amount. However, if you are only guessing at your ovulation date, you could be out by a bit, hence why it wouldn't yet show up. I would keep testing, with first morning urine (hormones are stronger) and see what happens... If no luck, go to your GP and they will be able to do a blood test which detects any level of the hormone, I think. Hope that helps and good luck x

I didn't get a positive test with my DS until my period was over a week late - probably about 10 days late, I think, and even then it was extremely faint for another week or so.

MrsMattie

Thanks! That's really encouraging. Even though we weren't trying we were thinking about it and so we will be really excited! Although because I haven't had a +ve test yet, we're holding back on the excitement which is killing me!!

Thanks Katster, I've got a GP appt. on Friday so I'll have to contain myself until then I think. But in the meantime, I try a first thing in the morning test (thanks for the advice). God this is costing a fortune!!
