BFP followed by period

So I had spotting and a bfp same evening then period started properly next morning (proper flow) - all details on another thread and no point going into them now. Anyway, must have been a chemical pregnancy but just because I like to clutch at straws - has this happened to anyone and bfp remain? I know it's 99% likely to be a cp but just wondered...

sorry to hear about this yellowflowers - I don't have much experience of this but have experienced a CP (was pregnant for just a few days and then AF bloody arrived). It's gutting, and I really hope you get some good news...hope someone can come along with a better experience to share.

Hi yellowflowers - afraid I can't bring a success story for you but just wanted to reply to bump the thread for you and send you a ((hug)).

ah mate, this happened to me last week as well,
Had 2 BFP's on Monday, had period on Friday, BFN on the Sat.
Had bloods taken, and no HCG detected in my blood.
Is this what they call a chemical pregnancy?

Doesnt sound right.

Aw thanks everyone - has turned into pretty unambiguous period. Bah! Was already spotting when I got bfp though so never allowed myself to get excited. Can I see this as a good thing though - I mean at least I have working eggs and dh has working sperm?

Yes, Yellowflowers, this is absolutely a positive sign. The eggs and sperm work and most importantly, your DH's sperm is capable of fertilising your eggs.

I know it sucks to have CP. Of course there are stories about women getting their periods throughout pregnancy, or having strange bleeds (not to mention one of my own where I bled and got a BFP afterwards, but it turned out to be ectopic) but the most obvious explanation is, as you know, a CP.

Deany - what you had does sound like a CP. HCG levels can drop very fast, especially if they were not high to start with.

Hugs to you both. Don't lose hope.
