What is the time frame? Is it days? Hours? between x-y would be good!
I am ttc, and have come off contraception, not yet a period so cannot go by my normal cycle to know if I was producing an egg.

But, I am feeling queazy a lot. Is this me hoping? Is it part of the bug? Or is it me just being too hopeful? (Had sex on friday). Its too soon to know is it not?

Come on MN, teach me about all this!

The egg lives for around 24 hours at the outside unless it is fertilised. As sperm need a few hours to become capable of fertilising the egg after they enter the reproductive tract, you ideally want the sperm to be in there and waiting when ovulation takes place. After fertilisation, it takes approx 5 days to travel down the fallopian tubes and then another few days to implant in the uterus.

I therefore reckon that 8 days past conception is about the earliest you could be said to be pregnant.

Nausea, headaches, sore breasts and a load of other things that we think of as pregnancy signs can be caused by rising progesterone, which you get after ovulation whether or not you are pregnant.
