Second baby

We've started to 'try' for a second baby, we were lucky that we conceived our DS really quickly, I thought the same might happen again and it hasn't. Did it take any one else longet to conceive second time round?

meant 'longer'...

Wish I was trying for second...
Had mc at first and took me what seemed like ages to conceive again (10 months). In the end I stopped thinking about it and started to enjoy it instead and would give that advice.
Good luck!

yomellamoHelly · 23/01/2009 20:55

Ds1 conceived first month of trying. Ds2 took 15 months. DB2B again immediately.

Corblimy · 23/01/2009 22:15

bumpkin32, sorry to hear about your mc. Are things working out better this time?

I am trying not to think about it too much, but it does end up resurfacing....

'yomellamoHelly' - just been trying to say your tonguetwister of a nickname......what does 'DB2B' mean? Good to hear you got pregnant again, if it takes me that long I know I'll be down the GP's....

Hi Corblimy,

how long have you been TTC DC2? I also used to fall pregnant quickly (3 times at the first try, however, I had 2mc), but this time it is taking much longer... However, I realise I am impatient. I am also still nursing (DS is 14months, so not a lot), which might effect my fertility. I think I will try a few more months and then ask for my thyroid levels to be checked. I think quite often this is a reason for secondary infertility and it can be easily fixed.

twoplease · 24/01/2009 00:11

hi corblimy, am in a similar boat to you - conceived dd v easily - just not happening ttc#2 - nearly a year now. hope you are lucky soon.

guineamango · 24/01/2009 13:56

Hi corblimy I'm the same! I conceived my DD first go. Been trying 3 months now and nothing so far! I waited 6 months before starting to try as thought I was sooo fertile after the first time! Wishing I hadn't now!
Good luck to us! Hope we don't have to wait too long. Waiting is hard!

Corblimy · 24/01/2009 16:55

I'm exactly the same, I thought I'd try to conceive early with DS1 as was convinced it would take ages, but he came along straight away, so this time we put off 'trying' for a while to make sure there was a bit of an age gap and nothing has happened for 3 months.......which I know isn't long, but it's longer than last time............fingers crossed...

This happened to a friend of mine - she fell pg with her first straightaway, but then her second took about 5 months I think. She was starting to panic too!

Good luck, I'm sure all will be fine x

Corblimy · 24/01/2009 20:41

Cheers monkeybb........belgian bun, I know you're right, it's very early months....

hey corblimy, when you due to test next? I hate all this waiting don't you?!

CakeForBreakfast · 25/01/2009 19:55

Conceived dc1 almost immediately. Trying for number 2 but 10 months in, nothing. I too, held off ttc second time round thinking it would be nay problem. Bah!

You are not alone

damnitdamnit · 25/01/2009 19:59

hi everyone, also TTC DC2. DD1 conceived in 3 months now on to 5th month. getting a bit now.

Corblimy · 25/01/2009 20:03

GuineaM - I'm due to next test around the 20th...usually I can't keep track of time, and I'm taking DS1 away on family holiday for a couple of weeks without DH so won't be able to 'try' the month after....

CakeFB - have you done anything different as the months have gone on, or just kept 'at it'?

OP posts:
Corblimy · 25/01/2009 20:05

DamnitD - just read your post - there's something about going past the month when you 'conceived' last time, I was thinking, oh if it was DS1 I was pregnant now....fingers crossed for everyone..

guineamango · 25/01/2009 20:23

You would think it would be easier to fall pregnant next time round! Don't know why! I'm due to test on Tuesday but feeling like I have pmt Guess we just have to wait and see.. Anyway nice to know I'm not the only one!

guineamango · 25/01/2009 20:25

corblimy maybe a month off will help!

Corblimy · 25/01/2009 22:47

GuineaM - I hope you get the 'second line' this week....if not......I'm trying to see it as extra time to get more folic acid down me :-)

Jackstini · 25/01/2009 22:52

dd took 9 months, ds took 12 months although I conceived twice more in that time (ended in mc) also was still bfing
Good luck with ttc!

CakeForBreakfast · 26/01/2009 19:23

Hi corblimey, to answer your question earlier, of have I been doing anything differently while trying these last 10 months - well, no, just monitoring EWCM and jumping on dh a bit extra mid-cycle. DC1 was conceived while we were barely trying, I know we only had sex twice in total that particular cycle, so I have been superstitiously trying to bd on those same cycle days now. But not much else really. You?

Corblimy · 26/01/2009 22:11

CakeFB - I'm doing much the same, I did buy some ovulation tests today though just to check my hormones are doing what they're supposed to....... and I'm trying to lay off the coffee / booze alot more...
