Hi Belgo, hope you see this

Was just wondering if you had a recommendation for a gynaecologist in Leuven at all? Am seriously unhappy with the two that I've seen in Brussels, so am desperate to find someone else...

Hope all is going well with you?

Thanks!!!

hi - did you used to be called charlie'smummy? I can recommend midwives, but I've only seen one gyneacologist Dr Deprest at Gasthuisberg- he was excellent. He specialises in twin pregncies and intra-uterine surgery, but I just saw him despite having a normal pregnancy.

belgo · 23/01/2009 16:14

monkeybumsmum - hope you aren't affected by the awful attack on the flemish creche.

monkeybumsmum · 23/01/2009 17:47

Thanks belgianbun! That's great to have a number I've just been to see my GP, who is fab, and she said to trust this guy I saw on Wednesday as he's a top consultant so I may stick with him for the next little while and see what happens. I will definately keep that number though and bear it in mind for the future! Do you know where he delivers? I would need to find a hospital for delivery (if we ever get that far again) but as we live so far out of Brussels wherever we went would have to be south of Brussels ideally. Where are you? Are you in Belgium?

Belgo, thanks for replying! Yes, I used to be charliesmum, you have a very good memory Dr Deprest does deliveries does he? Leuven's only about 20 mins from here... I hope I'm not getting too far ahead of myself thinking about deliveries
How are you getting on?

Gosh, forgot to mention about the attack - mum just told me about it on the way home. What happened??

Whereabouts is the creche? Charlie goes to one in Overijse...

here is the bbc link about the attack. It's dreadful. I think belgian creches will be a lot more secure because of it.

I'm fine thanks, ds is lovely and no you're not getting ahead of yourself thinking about deliveries, you have every reason to think positively. Dr Deprest does do deliveries, and I've found the midwives at Gasthuisberg to be excellent.

monkeybumsmum · 23/01/2009 18:40

Thanks Belgo, you're a star

Will have a look at that link, it just doesn't bear thinking about having something like that happen, does it.

IYE, did the midwives/doctors speak much english at Gasthuisberg? I speak no flemish at all

OP posts:
belgo · 23/01/2009 18:43

yes they all speak english and are used to dealing with foreign patients

monkeybumsmum · 23/01/2009 20:01

Sounds great, thanks so much!

OOOoh - I've just seen this thread! There are Belgium-based people on here! That makes me happy - I'm in Brussels and have been ttc for 2 months. It's nice to know there are people on here in Belgium who I can ask advice from! I'm quite scared about the prospect of being pregnant so far from my family and none of my friends here have kids yet, so they won't be able to give me advice, etc. So far I've seen my regular GP for a kinda pre-conception check-up, but will no doubt need to get some recommendations for gynaes when the time comes....

monkeybumsmum · 09/02/2009 17:20

Oooh Hello amyboo! It's always very exciting to find that there's another MNer around Where are you in Brussels?

I'm about to start ttc number 2, so maybe we'll be going through things at the same time!

Have got a very good recommendation for a guy in Brussels if you need it! Ooh, and another lady too.....

amyboo · 10/02/2009 08:45

That's great to know you have recommendations - will be very handy I'm sure!

I'm in Etterbeek, how about you?

monkeybumsmum · 11/02/2009 13:31

Am out in the countryside between Wavre and Jodoigne, but I work in Uccle...
How long have you been here?

OP posts:
amyboo · 11/02/2009 14:59

I've been here for nearly 7 years... Time flies!

timmette · 11/02/2009 17:57

Oh this is nice - can I join in too - I am in Antwerp and ttc or will be soon as I recently lost twins sadly but moving forwards.

monkeybumsmum · 11/02/2009 21:04

Hi Timmette, I was so sorry to hear about you losing your twins. Not sure if you saw my message on the other thread... How are you?

OP posts:

Hi monkeybumsmum
I am ok I think thanks for the recommendation for the gynae - strangely before I got your answer that was the one I went to and she is great. But thanks for taking time time to help me it is appreciated.
